UPS 2013 Rate Info

FYI:

Quote:
2013 Rates Information
Effective December 31, 2012, UPS rates will increase as follows*:
• UPS Air and International Services will increase an average net 4.5% through a combination of a 6.5% increase in rates and a two percentage point reduction in the UPS Air and International fuel surcharge table.
• UPS Ground Services will increase an average net 4.9% through a combination of a 5.9% increase in rates and a one percentage point reduction in the UPS Ground fuel surcharge table.
• UPS Next Day Air® Freight, UPS 2nd Day Air® Freight and UPS 3 Day Freight® rates for shipments within and between the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico will increase 4.9%.
To be expected as they seem to increase every year, but doesn't make it any less painful...

I would image that these rates are based on the cost of fuel. I suspect that the other shippers will increase their prices as well.

Kinda a "catch 22" situation.

They claim that they need to raise rates to stay in business, But the more they raise their rates the more business they loose.

Eventually somebody will come along who can do it cheaper/ better and make a billion overnight.

Maybe Fedex and UPS will merge and call themselves "FedUP".....(I know old joke )

I have already begun working on my plan. I will train a highly intelligent bunch of monkeys to deliver stuff on bikes with trailers....

No, but really with gas prices constantly on the rise I am sure all the companies will raise rates sooner or later Until alternative fuels or higher efficiency becomes mainstream haha

I use to get upset about all the LPU only listings. However, last night I spent $30 shipping a 9cap. My jaw hit the floor.

...and how many bricks did you include? $30 for a TX to any location in the US is highway robbery.

Futaba 9Cap in original box, with wallwart, and lipo battery, Coast to coast (east to west) with $100 insurance on it (was gonna go with $200, but jumped the price by almost $10) UPS ground $30.00.

Uhhhh.....up to $100 insurance is included by default with every UPS package at no extra cost. At least, used to be. (I worked for them) That stopped now?

Three words...

you - got - hosed

Lemme guess - UPS store?

nearly $10 for another $100 insurance? UPS insurance rate is 80 cents per $100 over $100, first $100 is included in base rate.

If you got paid with Paypal, you can create labels right on their site with either USPS or UPS.

There was no additional charge for the first $100 of insurance, and it was $10 for an additional $100 (which I didn't get).
But yes....it was the UPS store.

Its nice when the buyer has to pay for all shipping! A seller should NEVER pay for shipping, or if he does just up the price of the item to cover those shipping costs!

I've shipped several transmitters (with and without servos/charger/etc).. and I've gotten the whole thing into a USPS Medium Flat Rate box for ~$11. Even with insurance, it's still less than $15. I'll have to agree with HemiKiller: you got hosed!

Package came in at 6lbs, and went from Jersey to Washington. With the original box, there was no way it was fitting in a flat rate box. Was gonna go with USPS, but wanted tracking, which the PO doesn't really offer.
