I'm in the process of building one too. The tip of my wing was damaged/broken and there were a couple of minor places on the plane I need to fix. I'm using the 68mm rc lander edf 3850kv on 4s. They are pretty heavy so I'm going to balance it with 2 4s 5000mah packs in the front. Overally its a nice plane. I picked up some turnigy retracts that fit perfect. I'm sure mine wont be as light as some of the others, but its going to be nice.

I just purchased one of these. Mine only has slight damage to one wing tip. I would like to know what others are putting in for the fan units. The fans from Lander look great but are pricey for this plane i think. They also look to be heavier then a plastic setup. I would appreciate any info and ideas. Thanks

I PM'd you the ones that I bought. They fit perfectly into the slots. I was also looking at some other units and plastic units might be lighter, but you generally have the balancing issues and they are a pita to take apart to balance. I still havent gotton a pre-built edf unit apart in one piece, so I have just given up. Trying different combinations with motors and fans can also be hit and miss. My last setup on a jet I built gave me 216A on 6S at full throttle and I was shooting for 60A, so I'm not going to mess with it anymore. I would like to note that at 216A it took off like a rocket and I so badly wanted to leave it like that, but my batteries didnt think it was a good idea.

What servo's are you using? I just bought two metal 68mm lander fans. I don't want to cut corners on servos. Thanks.

Which Turnigy retracts did you pick for this A-10?

Anyone knows what electric retracts will work on the Projet A-10 warthog?

I'm going to re-maiden my Projet A-10 tomorrow. I flew it twice in January at the AZ Electric Festival. The first flight was good but it wanted to dive the second power was reduced. Landed fine the first time just VERY fast. Second flight I thought I had sorted out the balance but it still flew fast but didn't like any drop in speed. Landed hot and took the gear out... I let it sit for months not realizing how minor the damage was. I put an Eagletree Guardian in it to try and help with the constant dropping and beefed up the LG mounting. I am using Turnigy/Lander F9F gear with the struts turned on the mains to go up forward rather than to the side.

Flying on 2 Dynam 3200kv motors with the Dynam rotors cut down to fit the shrouds that were already installed. 2-70a escs, 5s 4900(1-2s and 1-3s in series). I also have a long, skinny pair of 3450 5s packs I might try. Not sure what the c rating is on them but they might work and help with the balance. I have the CG dead on, its not that it's the weight more than anything-heavy wing loading as mentioned in the thread already. Wish me luck!

Well, this plane is gone...I got it back in one piece, installed the Eagletree Guardian per the instructions and prepared to fly it on the 5s setup that has worked twice already.

Takeoff roll was good but as soon as I got airborne it went vertical and rocked left and right with very little affect from me moving the sticks. I had virtually no control over it and knew it was going to end badly no matter what... I nosed it down(funny, that worked) but it was still rocking left and right. I was at about half throttle(didn't cut it due to pre-occupation of getting it down period) and it went straight in...

Airframe was complete toast along with the batteries. Salvaged rotors/motors/esc's, retracts and all but one servo. RX still works and I'm not to sure what to do with the Guardian, it seemed to be the cause of this. So much for having a good flying Projet A-10.
