btw I just finished up a 4min flight in 20-25mph winds. I like the fact that it can handle it but it's not much fun, hence 4min... ha

I tried some LMR practice yesterday... Man, its going to be tough to keep the bird up there for 10 minutes with no power! Of the 2 attempts, I put her down around 7-8 minutes.

Granted I was in a park on a football field so without those trees and goal posts I might have been able to keep it in the air for another 30 seconds.

I had a hard time getting up really high too. Orientation was lost (could still see the plane fine, just is it going up or down or is it upside down!) and I ended up with the plane nose down a couple times! I had to hit flaps to get it out. We'l see how it does on Thursday at SEFF.

I don't like wind either. Keeping the plane in sight causes drag, and loss of energy IMHO. Not to mention that it blows the top off the thermals. After yesterday's near disasters, I think I'll be more selective about when I choose to go fly.

Here's what the fairings look like on my plane. I'm embarrased to say, but I didn't even soak the stickers off the bottles. The remnants are still on the fairings.

I mounted the fairings twice. The first time the rear open end was about 1" wide at the wing surface. I thought that might cause some extra drag, so I took them off and moved the balsa rear mounting blocks closer together. Squeezed the fairing sides together and re-mounted glued them to the blocks. Now the fairings are about 1/2 inch wide at the widest and I'm satisfied with them. They have endured over 50 flights without fail.

I picked one up about a week ago and it's always a blast to fly. I've never flown or even imagined owning a electric sailplane but I'm sure glad I pulled the trigger with this one. It can handle some crazy winds and 15+min flight times are the the norm (Parkzone 3S 1300mah). Parkzone's R&D deptartment did a good job...

Also with its long flight times with stability, my gf enjoys learning to fly with it.

Servo Covers?? Are you guys scratch building or purchasing them? I've been looking at plastic bottles of different shapes to see if they can be of use....
