Which replacement prop to get for my Soarstar?

I finished the repairs to my Soarstar after a tree incident. Unfortunately, my LHS only had a Top Flite wood prop in the "8x4" size that the Soarstar uses. Testing this weekend proved that this prop is considerably down on power compared to the plastic (nylon?) stock prop. Does anybody know of a replacement prop that works good with this plane?

Thanks!

Either an APC slowflyer 8X3.8 (Hobby Lobby P08038) or a Graupner SLIM Electric 8X4 (Hobby Lobby GPS0804) will do fine. Just make sure you've got it mounted right (with lettering towards the front of the plane).

Would moving to a larger prop or one with more pitch make more sense?

Thanks!

Props are cheap and you can buy a number of them to try and decide yourself, but I think you have the right one for that plane. The only other change you could do prop wise, is to go direct drive like a Wingo. I'm not sure what prop they use, but the Wingo seems to fly good as well. I prefer geared usually.

Seems like the props for my little electric are $1-2 more than those I get for my glows (9x6, 10x5, 10x6, 10x7, 11x5, 11x6)... I went with an OEM prop for the Soarstar. I read that it's one of the most efficient props available for the motor/gearbox pusher configuration that comes with this plane.

You can get replacement SoarStar parts including the prop from Horizon Hobbies.

Up that's where I ordered mine from. Most LHS can also order it also, but I needed some extra stuff as well.
