Sterling 26' Express Cruiser model
Many years ago, Sterling Models offered a nice little kit of a Higgins 26' cabin cruiser that was 15" long and 5 1/4" wide. Due to the model's small size and the bulky, heavy R/C equipment of that day, it was intended to be a free runner or a display model. Nowadays with much smaller, lighter components, R/C'ing one is feasible.
Has anyone ever seen one of these models completed and successfully R/C'ed? Pictures?

What motor did you put in your cobra John?
I R/C'd one a few years back and have a 280 in mine.
I used the stock plastic prop and it moves out very well.
The only thing is it fills with water very easy because the rear is so low.
My friends Dumas 18' does the same thing.
I always liked the lines of the 21' better.
I have a short video somewhere. I will look. Dave.

The kit says 16in.
I used a 20mm Brushless outrunnerand a 3/4in 3 blade plastic prop I purchased on e-bay. I run 2 cells 800ma.(7.4V) . I did fill the bow with foam and I water proofed the speed control and receiver. The 3.5 gram servo is not but a fast swap. I also made my own brass rudder, semi balanced.
I will have it on display at the WRAM SHOW this week end and I hope to run it there. I hope to do a video there.
The tests prove that it is fast.

I mounted my Novak Spy ESC on the back of the seat and put the R/X up inside the rear hatch to keep them off the bottom.
I run a two cell Lithium Ion battery pack made from old cell phone batteries.
7.4V at 1200MA.
They go for serious bucks on ebay now if you can find one.
I paid $5 and bought it new from AHC many many many years ago. Dave.
