Pro Boat Blackjack 29 V3

The latest in the Blackjack family of racing cats from Pro Boat

Splash

Up to 6s LiPo power with lots of upgrades

The latest Blackjack from Pro Boat boasts an impressive list of features that aren't usually found on RTR electric boats. The Blackjack V3 comes ready to run with a water-cooled Dynamite marine 120 Amp ESC and 2000Kv brushless motor. Additionally, we're glad to see a RTR boat come with a metal prop vs. those plastic props that almost need to be replaced right out the box. Another nice feature for racing is the ofset rudder, making this Blackjack a true go fast, turn-right heat racer.

Features

  • Capable of reaching speeds of 45+mph
  • Includes a new fiberglass hull and durable canopy that have been shaped to withstand the rigors of high-speed action
  • Includes Spektrum™ 2.4Ghz DX2E marine radio system including the SR410 receiver
  • Off-set rudder system provides superb stability in all wake conditions while keeping the model glued to the water
  • Water-cooled Dynamite water cooled marine 120 Amp ESC (6S compatible) and 2000Kv brushless motor
  • ESC comes pre-wired with dual high-current EC5™ connectors
  • Dual Li-Po or Ni-MH operation
  • Metal propeller
  • Waterproof electronics
  • Designed to be competition ready out of the box

Doubt it. It probably only costs ProBoat $10-20 to throw in a Tx to all boats, and that saves creating two separate products.

makes sense.

after viewing the video, seems like it should have a bit more performance for a V3 6s cat. 45mph isnt much. the aquacraft hydro does that on 4s and the blackjack v2 also ran 45 on 6s.

so a bigger esc, since the previous 80a wasn't enough. they fixed the hull from hopping, added an offset rudder. so, its smoother running but not faster. correct? a good prop will prob add a good 5+

The blackjack v2 properly set up and with a tuned x642 prop will hit 50 on 4S, I'm sure this version is no different. I like the higher amp esc-- the 80A version is not enough to handle 6s reliably on a decent prop, but I am scratching my head at 2000kv motor. That is great for 4S but pretty high rpm for 6s. On 6s I like 1500-1600kv range and x440-x442 prop. With 2000kv I would probably stick with x440, but I'll need to check it out.

I personally like lower RPM and larger prop setups on cats, I expect 4S, x642 will haul nicely.

I'll be getting stock soon and I can config these as ATR / BND with a discount by request.

I have these in stock now, and can configure them without TX, RX, or just Hull/HW. Send me a note if you'd like to configure it different than stock- jqhydro@gmail.com.

It is good to have one of each-- you'd want to break out the mono on a windy day!

That pool is too small for the boat. She needs to go full bore.

I just picked up a BJV3 with OSE hardware. stock motor and ESC. I run 6s and put a smaller x440 prop on it first thing. I got 3 runs on the setup before the stock ESC let go into the 3rd run. dam you Proboat. I'll put in my seaking 180 and take care of that issue. the stock motor, 2000kv I can live with for now but I don't like how hot the motor wires get and the motor itself is pretty warm too. I'll prob upgrade to a leopard 3674 1900kv and run a 442 or bigger prop. that leopard motor barely gets warm on 6s.

That was not good, did it get up in smoke?
I thought the new dynamite 120A was enough. You used a 40mm prop, 38mm is stock?

Have anyone compare v3 with v2 or the geico v2?
Wonder if the hull could handle the 6s speed without flip so easy like the v2.

BJ handles the speed very well. not a single issue with that. just the stock electrics don't like 6s. hot motor, hot wires, hot esc which burned up.

I already replaced them all with a Leopard 3674 1900kv, Seaking 180a esc. 442 prop. running very cool temps now and way faster then the crap stock motor which was 2000kv but poor efficiency. Running a solid 60mph and glued to the water the whole time.

I love proboat boats on 4S, and only continue to hear problems on 6S. On the V2's, the issue was Proboat used an 80A esc. That is more than enough for 4S, but about 100amps short on 6s. Also, 1800kv on 6s is actually a bit too high RPMs. I like to target between 25000-35000 rpms. My strategy on my custom boats is actually to target the lowest possible RPM with the largest prop that will still result in good handling. High RPMs just cause excessive wear and tear, esp. due to vibrations.

So the V3 came out with 2000kv 120A config. This is also a great setup on 4S. For p-limited racing, I use a 2030kv motor on 4s, and a 60A Aqucraft ESC and get away with it (60 A is a little low for that, but with short runs WOT, it works). So for sustained sports running, a 2000kv / 120A is another solid config.

But this is WAY too high RPMs for 6S, and still not nearly enough ESC headroom. For a 6S boat I recommend 1500KV motors...

If you want a reliable rock solid boat, keep 'em on 4S... the secret to more speed are upgraded tuned props + proper setup. The V2's can get right on the edge of 50mph on 4s, the V3's should get more.
