If you want a strap then you'd probably want the Taranis that is coming out now. The next ones will likely be tray format.

Why? so disappointed. Why not make it removable so the heli guys who fly with strap can also enjoy the x16d. It's the only one I'm interested in.

Tray radios are usually larger and heavier, so a center strap is not very practical.
Doesn't mean there's no strap, just that it's placed differently, usually like this:

Anyway, 2 things:
- The later concept images that were shown actually also do have a center hook
- The X16D is probably 1-2 years away, so I doubt much is decided about it, and it might not be anything like what was posted.

I sure hope so. I cant fly with puIt. Nobody at our field or heli meetings does. Not very common with 3d heli flying. thought it was coming this year is the x12d also released next year?

Yes most likely.

But I don't get why you'd want a tray transmitter if you don't like tray transmitters

I was hoping it would be a hand transmitter like the jeti ds16. I like the looks and see no downside when there is a loop for the strap.

The x16d looks way smaller than my current 14sg

It's called a single stick transmitter and was fairly popular a few decades ago. My first proportional radio was single stick (rudder knob on stick, throttle on side). That was 1966 and they persisted till the 80s but became rare after that.

A single stick Taranis would be a nice project!

I own a Kraft and a heathkit SS. I converted them to Frsky 2.4g for the fun of it.
I couldn't rotate the pic on my iPod touch, sorry.
Fun to pass around but clunky compared to a $50 9x.
I saved it from the trash can.

Sorry to let run this thread so long that you found it and subscribed, because this radio turned into something bitter, at least for me, and the signs shows the priorities are no more the same as when Frsky started, i.e. listening to customers.
Because I have no more hopes to see a X12D as I dream, I think is better to close this thread.
