RC Hang glider?

Has anyone seen plans for an RC hang glider? I'm thinking of a motorized trike beneath a Rogallo wing, controlled by weight shift. I have a Hawkeye (http://www.electricflights.com/) and some plans from the AMA, but both use a big rudder for control. The Hawkeye also has a weight shift servo for some pitch control.

It seems like it would be easier to just have two servos rigged to pull on control lines to the wing, like a real hang glider.

Has anyone see anything like this in an RC model? I don't want to re-invent the wheel!

Nope, those two you mention are paragliders. The "wing" is a parachute with a complex shape and multiple control lines. I have an old Sky Surfer and I thought the all-fabric wing would easy to fold and carry, but in practice it's a real bear because all the control lines get tangled and there is an internal spar to keep the chute spread open.

It's the simplicity of 4 poles and a piece of fabric in the Rogallo that appeals to me!

But couldn't that control set up be applied to the hang glider you want to build?

I thought was what you were looking for. lol

Yes, it might be a starting point. The shroud pulling servos could be connected to the Rogallo wing to steer left and right perhaps. Mmmm.

I tried one years ago, but never had much luck. I was building it to be a scale model of my wills wing RAVEN that I flew. Wieght shift will work, but its a little tough on servos. The video isn't me, just found it on youtube

You might want to try the RC Kites section on this forum. Some of teh guys have made RC Rogallo kites.
Regarding your idea, sounds good. For CoG shift, you might try winch servos with disc/fishline. Very strong with lots of travel and slips under shock.
