I ordered the Neu 1800 5S 75C

I had another Sky Lipo 4S 40C 2200 go bad on Monday. I may not have enough throttle ramp, but also the X doesn't cool that well and Sky Lipo are OK for moderate performance but I have had 3 fail now on high amp applications.

really tight battery fit

I got the Neu 1800 5S battery today. It is a really tight fight.
I was able to shoehorn it in but it is rubbing really hard on the front wing mounts.
If it put it in sideways it is just a bit too tall with the Velcro battery mount in place that Lenny put in there.

How are you guys fitting this battery?

Try to put the velcro side on top of the battery and the counterpart under the wing. Then the battery will be held firmly in place as low as possible in the fuselage.

Dan,With this fit You dont need any velcro.
Battery sits tight enough between fuse and wing and not gonna move anywhere.
I dont use velcro.

The NEU pack fits great in my X. You may need to file away a bit of excess material around the wing bolt supports.
The Dinogy pack is a little shorter and fatter, but still fits fine too, as Steve suggested.

If your worried about it sliding , put a piece of tape(blenderm) across top of battery then down the outside of fuse.

Lenny, sorry I had to dremel out your nice Velcro covered wood battery pad. Then I put a thin Velcro strip on the lowest point in the fuselage.

I agree with Yuri, probably doesn't need any Velcro, the wing is going to clamp the battery in place.

Steve the blenderm is great idea, I use that to tape down rx/servo wires, makes sense would stop the battery from sliding.

Now may be a good time to read my transmitter manual on throttle ramp. It would be nice to launch at maybe 75% throttle, not 100%.

Dan, the f5b guys use kapton tape, just make an x that adheres to top of lipo and runs on outside of fuse. It will not damage paint and works great. Make sure that there is no way the bolts can touch the lipo,Moshe folks screwed them into the lipo in the past and the cells caught fire, may not apply to latest x planes...
