Landing on tarmac

Hi,
My primary site is an RC airfield, it has a really nice tarmac landing strip, but no grass...

I've been flying a Multiplex Solius there and use clear plastic vinyl coating for the underbelly and on the wingtips to protect it when I land.

I recently purchased a high end scale LET ASW28-- any tips on how to protect the wings on landing? Been thinking about some small winglet wheels but not sure how that will affect gliding performance.

If there is dirt on the edge of the runway I would choose that over pavement, I would think wheels would create a lot of drag. I would probably choose a hard plastic skid. Maybe make one, you could heat and bend it to shape. I would probably tape it on well first for a trail and then gorilla glue or epoxy it on when I was satisfied. Maybe someone else has a better idea, I hope. What material is the wing made out of?

The wing is sheeted with a white ultracoat covering. I would be taping the wheel on, I could tape a skid as well.

Have you tried going to the Scale Sailplane posting and ask there? How big is yourASW28? How are you launching it?

A simple bent wire skid will protect the wingtips and add very little drag. You could even make them removable if you needed to.

Bent wire sounds better than skid in my book.

Nothing wrong with old Goldberg tip skids, they get ground down, just replace em.

Obtain a quality IPA in a can (there's a few out there), drink entire contents in order to empty said can. Slice up the can carefully, tape to plane in appropriate areas, fly.
Avoid crappy beer, as somehow it negatively affects the aluminum.
