Build Log
My EPP FPV build

For my starter plane into FPV I originally got a Bixler 2 then modified it to carry more payload, however in my first attempts I faced problems and in my final attempt I had a critical failure

My Bixler doesn't like FPV (and meets its DOOM) (6 min 3 sec)

Having the cash and a vacancy for a platform I decided to look at other airframes, and at its limited cost I came across the EPP FPV from Hobbyking

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...779&aff=410109

So far I'm only a little bit past the build, which I have the video for here

The EPP FPV BUILD VIDEO | *Read the Description* (18 min 13 sec)

Hopefully no one minds me cutting out the filler. As a downside to the cost, building this plane takes a little prior know-how as will be shown in the video. Being one of their older models, the build quality is questionable and the insyructions lack some crucial detail. Follow me and let's whether this project goes well, or if I just go deeper down the rabbit hole

I have a 1400kv motor, but I haven't had a chance to fly it and see how well it does (Oregon weather is as predictable as a 4 year old child). I actually finished my mods on it here:

December Unboxing - PARTS & STUFF!!!!! (5 min 10 sec)

EPP Mods & Upgrades FINALLY DONE (8 min 39 sec)

Yeah you'd have a better chance of getting yours up in the air sooner

I should seriously do a waterproof build so that way I have a chance to fly this time of year

I have 5 hinges per aileron, that's 1 every 6 inches of aileron. They feel pretty solid at no more than 6 inches spacing and no signs of detaching yet. They even stay solid in the back of my truck on the way to the field, up to 60mph. The only thing I have little faith in are the stopper-&-linkage setup, I glued my linkages right outside the stopper

Was this crash following my mods?

we had pretty much the same mods, after inspection on my new kit I start thinking it wasnt the ailerons, there was a guy flying his DJI Phantom 2 next to me and we know that thing uses 2.4Ghz for video and control so Maybe his signal locked mine

Most 2.4ghz setups now shouldn't throw out too much interference, but I guess it also matters what your setup was relative to his. I have the 1W 433mhz OpenLRS and I'd be more likely to overpower him lol

What was the damage besides the ailerons?
