I think one could safely say that you have caught the boat building bug, Moonblink!

That's great!

Yes I definitely have the building bug. I do not think it's on the dumas site yet (they seem a little slow on the web site updates) but towerhobbies has it listed as release this October. No idea how I got one so fast. I need to wait for the hardware kit and motor.

No problem. Once I get a moment from our yard project that is my recent time suck, energy suck, and pain inducer.

The rudder servo is in a bad spot

From the picture,it looks like the rudder servo is hidden under the rear hatch with the windows and you can see the linkage coming out from there and being exposed. That is a real turn-off for me.I wonder why Dumas would do it that way ??????

It could be that there was not enough room under the deck, or they did it this way to make it easier to get to the mechanism or it was the only way that they could get enough strength on the stuffing tube for the rudder. Also it may have been one of those things done to make the model a simpler for the inexperienced modeler but some thing that you could change or improve on your own model, I think I would add a raised deck or grating to go over the control horn, and figure out how to run a pull pull system to the control horn at the deck edges. A lot of vessels had exposed cable / chain systems where the quadrant was above the deck with metal covers over the cable / chain to keep people from tripping over it.
