Hi, has anyone tried successfully to download the telemetry data from the Feiyutech FY-31AP via the audio channel of an A/V transmitter and display the live aircraft location and telemetry info on the 2D GCS 4.0 or GCS 3D software?

Connections

FPV air platform:
FY-31AP UART TX pin connected to Audio-L or Audio-R channel of the A/V transmitter.

FPV ground platform:
Audio-L or Audio-R channel of the A/V receiver connected to the TTL / USB interface linked to a laptop with GCS software installed and relevant COM port open.

It would require a piece of hardware to modulate the data to sound and demodulate it back to data, could be done, I am not so sure if any existing systems could do it without code modifications though.

I've tried to simply connect the signal cable between the FY-31AP and the Hornet OSD to the audio channel of the Vtx and some of the telemetry can be downloaded live on the GCS 3D software by just connecting the audio output of the AV receiver to the TTL interface provided with the FY-31AP. The artificial horizon and the compass status are updated but the remaining telemetry data is not correctly downloaded (e.g. GPS coordinates, battery, temp, altitude etc). I was wondering if anyone managed to download the full telemetry data without using additional hardware.

I think, it is a great Idea to recieve the live Data about the Audio Plug to the Computer. Itīs only a Downlink (only recieve Data to Computer).

Which Transmitter and Reciever do you use?
Is there a small Microphone on the Transmitter Circuit Board?

If there is a Microphone on the Board, it can cause many Troubles in Context with the Audio Channel.

It should be possible to change the Video and Audio Plug.
Maybe you can select the Audio Plug, to download the Video Signal.
And then, you can use the Video Plug to download the Live Data about a clear Signal.
But itīs only a Idea!

Today, i bought a FY 31AP with Hornet OSD, too.
In a few Days it should be arrived. Then itīs Time to attempt this Idea.

I am using a 5.8 Ghz 200 mW transmitter and a RC305 Reciever on my Aicon A5 Plane.

my audio/video transmitters have no microphone embedded in their circuit board, they just transmit the audio signal they receive from the camera or any other source connected to one of their audio channel inputs. I'll try to swap audio and video channels to see if it makes any difference.
It would be great to have an update on your testing results once you'll have received your equipment.

FYI, the downlink of telemetry via the audio channels works very well when using the Immersion RC EzOSD telemetry module connected to the audio channel of the audio/video transmitter; I can download live telemetry to iPhone/PC via the audio input or just record it on the audio track of my video recording to play it back later.

Hi, in order to clarify, all the video transmitters and the receivers that I'm using have separate video, audio-left and audio-right connections.
The transmitter/receiver set-up works perfectly with other telemetry hardware (e.g. the EzOSD), there's no mix of signals between audio-left (audio from the camera) and audio-right (telemetry data).
I'm trying to make it work with the FY 31AP/Hornet set-up; I can hear from the audio recordings that the telemetry data is sent via the correct audio channel.
At this stage I would consider the issue linked to one of these factors:

- the telemetry signal is not transmitted correctly (e.g. not enough bandwidth on the audio channel, interferences, other requirements I am not aware of etc.)
- the signal is not de-modulated correctly when received

The connection is definitely working, as I can receive partial live telemetry information (e.g. plane’s attitude), so I would exclude discussions on sending/receiving the signal on the correct channel.

the Audio Connection works fine.

I think, we need a Modem to handle the UART from Hornet about a Audio Connection. Like a Voice Modem on Computers.
