I noticed on the EJF website they recommend their 1680kv motor with their fan for 8s. Similarly, the Arc 36-75-1 is 1680kv and it gets between 2.5 to 2.75w on 8s with both the wemo and 9305 fans. Perhaps as KL said, the 1500kv is only good for Jetfan.

im sure the 1680 would work too .but then you'd need a 100 esc ,and flights would be shorter.the 1500 gives lower amps (80-85) and longer flight.seems to be a happy system ...think i could even use 4000 batts for a lighter airframe.

If you like the performance of Brent`s XL, I`d say go with the 1500kv. Nothing like duplicating a proven system to get exactly what you want, and you could always add a cell for a little extra kick when you want it.

Blades

It also has a lot to do with the pitch of the blades and the number of blades.

BTW. I am in search of a JetFan 90 if anyone has one they like to part with.

1500 kv

Thanks fellas, for your input, i have decided to go with the 1500kv HET 700-68 motor, with Jetfan 90 on 8S, like Corsairnut.( I like the idea of longer flights and lower amps.

Hi guys,
I got very interest in this jet, but reading this post and the EJF building manual, saw many building tips and attentions points that are not difficult to solve using some quality materials and careful build.

The only thing that got real concern was the elevator stab flutter. And my idea is always use the simplest solution, removing the elevator moving part and replacing with a strait one. This way we have vey little change in the look and finishing with the difference between the center and the tip. A peace of trailing edge balsa glassed and painted is the easiest way to solve the problem.

Also I am thinking about using the HET 700-68 1500KV on Hyperion 4200 10S 45C batteries. What you suggestions about this setup?

Oliver

It seems to me the elevator tapers at middle to allow enough up elevator travel!

or they just drew out a stab shape with a double taper that looked cool and then said oh crap, how do we make this work with one servo......oh I know lets make the hinge line straight across.

I think it's some of both. On the smaller S90 there is a clearance issue on up elevator.

Looking at this picture elevator travel won’t be a problem., the elevator extension will be after the exhaust, and as there will be more surface, less throw will be need.

if the elev trailing edge moves up into the efflux from the tail pipe you will have vectored thrust ,.....can you say touchy Elev.
