Tippecanoe T37

I have finally finished building this wooden sailboat. Took 8 years!!! 7 of which was a developmental diapause. Shots of the building process. Hope this will be of some help for those hoping to build one. Its a nice sailboat.
Some mods I have made.
1, detachable keel for storage and transportability.
2, rudder post from scrap ply.
3, main mast post from scrap ply.

I am aware that detachable keel is against AMYA T37 class rules, but cant help it. Living in Japan, I doubt I will be sailing her in a race anyway.
Radio installtion may seem ugly. Yeah, it is. I admit. But this was because I had to make room to access the pair of bolts and nuts to secure the keel to the hull. NiMH pack is held in place with a wire above these bolts.

That's a boat I have become fascinated with. I would like to get one eventually, but I hope it won't take me 8 years. I do have a heli that has been being put together for about 2 years now...

I like the mods. Great job.

Well, if you keep working on it rather than leaving it untouched for SEVEN loooong years, you will be sailing in no time. Hope you will have as much fun as I have.

Just found this thread and have to add my two cents worth. I finished building my T37x( a T37 that Will Leash lengthen to 1 meter) and am very happy with it. The kit is a very easy build and fun build, the instruction manual that comes with the kit is easy to read and follow. If you are worried about the pin holes that there because of the building method the light coat of clear expoy that is appiled after hull is made will fill them in. I added a boom vane and move jig attachment back from the front of the jib boom and it doesn't seem to make a difference in sailing(maybe it is the skipper). Will must be doing something right because my T37 hull number is 987 so that is a lot of boats sold before I got mine. I would tell anyone interested in building a wood boat to try Tippecanoe. I am going to buy and build a T50 after I finish rebuilding my wifes Soling50.

My article's finally in print.

Took about a year, but my T37 construction article finally made it to print. 6 pages with 25 pictures. C'set pas mal!
Editor wanted the article to appear during the summer season, hence the delay. Anyhow, R/C Technique magazine is THE R/C magazine here in Japan, catering to all facets of this hobby, from sailboats to sailplanes. I already have over 50 artciles printed over the years.
Hope this will make T37 popular here.

suirendoujin, any chance you can post this info and your build photos to californiakid's thread here:

It would be great to get an active T37/tippecanoe thread going as these are popular boats.

Congratulations on the magazine article!

David, if you want a quick sale, it might be worth contacting Allan Van Ness so he can send the information to the local group.

Yes its the updated version and has a monster servo for the sail winch. I am going to concentrate on IOM sailing. I figure its time to pass this one along to someone who will sail her more. The Kantun S MX is what I will be sailing for a while.
