Estes Goblin

Hi folks,
Years ago I had an Estes rocket called the Goblin which used D engines. It was about 12"-14" tall with a streamer recovery, had a long balsa nose cone and 4 fins.

Is this still available or does anybody else still make it?

Thanks for any reply.

Jim

Estes has mentioned bringing it back. Semroc is making the kit with a balsa nose cone. New Way (which I carry) makes a square body tube of it.

This rocket can be easily cloned using this site.

Your local hobby shop may have kits for a kit bash and/or parts for cloning.

Centuri and Estes catalogs

Estes nose cones.

A great rocketry site.

Or, you could simply buy the recently re-released kit of the Goblin:

Out of stock currently at Estes, but AC Supply has them at 40% off. Lots of places have them in stock, but hard to beat the AC Supply discount.

Thanks for the recent thoughts, guys and the information.

I just might pick one up and build rockets again! I had two Goblins back in the late 60's or early 70's, and I remember them to be (on a D engine) a real mover. Might even be able to impress my grandson!

Gee, why didn't I think of that? (I did, but I wanted to share all that our wonderful hobby has to offer!)

The Semroc repro of the Goblin is available from eRockets.biz. It has a balsa nose cone like the original from Estes and also comes with an 18-24mm motor adapter so you can fly the Goblin on something smaller than a C11 (improving the chances of getting it back). In fact it looks like they have the Estes reissue (plastic nose cone) and the NewWay Spacemodels square rendition in stock as well.

To the OP - yes - rockets are a great way to spend some time with the grandkids
