Question
YAK54 EPP 3D Profile kit power System QUESTIONS! and more! please look

Hi,

I am buying the YAK54 EPP 3D Profile KIT (35.4in) and i have a few questions.

1. I got 4 HS-45HB that i think would be a nice match for this plane, yall think thoses servos will fit and work fine?

2. i also have a Park 480 1020kv motor, and would like to know if this motor will fit on this bird? overkill?
Im thinking, the park480, a SF9x4.7 and a 30Amp ESC running a 1300 3s nano-Tech batts.

3. Any other recommendation as for the motor? I read somewere that a D2826-10 1400kv Brushless Motor and a SF9x4.7, 30AMp would do the trick... but i rather go with my Park480... if its not overkill.

Thanks for all the help!

Max

You motor is a little to big 20 grams too heavy, but it would work, batteries are about the right size. Your servos might be a little to weak, The right size is the HS 55 servos.

The reason im thinking about the Park480, is that they all say that the plane is tail heavy, and maybe by putting this motor on the nose, i wont have to add dead weight in front...

I thought thoses servos were good, because they recommende those servos for a 41' 3DHS edge 540....

Thanks 100mph! your help is greatly appreciated.

If the plane is tail heavy with the light motor then the park 480 will work, the servos you have will be fine for you ailerons but if you want to do extreme 3D I would get a HS-55 servos for the tail.

No. this airplane is for 45-60g motors.
your 480 is heavy. 85 grams.

the AX2213 55 grames put with APC 10x4.7 over 30 Oz thrust.
to only 13A.

YAK54 EPP 3D Profile kit power System QUESTIONS! and more! please look

Hi,

If I were you I would get something bigger, at least 40" span (ask how I know). Much better in handling wind, plus if you are learning, much easier too. There are many good profile or full fuselage 3d planes out there with reasonable prices. Just my thought.

Helipk, you have suggestion for me?

Manuel, thanks for letting me know that it wont work.
I wanna lean 3D with a decent plane.. An EPP to learn, and i got my 3DHS to fly when im confident.

Any suggestion on, what EPP plane i should get for the Park480 Motor?
Or even, i dont care about the motor....

Ive looked on Twisted Hobby, and found that one : http://www.twistedhobbys.com/RCF-48-...12m-Rs-342.htm
it take 2200 3s, wich i have a bunch!
Maybe my Park480 would fit on that plane...
With a 45Amp ESC... i just dont know what the prop size should be ...
And there calling for 14g servos.... anyway... Is that a good choice Helipk??

3D Planes

Check out Twisted Hobbys EPP planes. They are a little expensive but worth it. I am also a beginner and trying to learn 3D too. I started with small, 35" EPP planes but found that they are only good in calm days. Then I bought the Twisted Hobbys planes over 40" and the difference was days and nights. I also have DW Foamies planes and they are also very good (although they are Depron/EPP Hybrid). Again, this is just my recommendation. You have to decide how much you're willing to spend. I believe larger planes have more advantageous for learning 3D.

3D Plane

Hi XstarWake,

I believe the Twisted Hobbys SBach 342 is a good choice. Infact I am eyeing it too. I suggest you read the review on 3D Foamie section. I noticed it's got favorable reviews. From what I've read Twisted Hobbys planes are generally considered good and are quite popular. Good luck.
