Careful!
Remember RC Plane Crashes Into Real Plane?... Here's The FAA Report...

Some of you may have seen various threads about this in the past or have seen the video. An RC airplane (AJ Slick) is hovering over a runway when a full scale biplane passes and they mid-air into each other. Well if you're a member of the AMA you probably received an email today with the story featured. It also included a link to the FAA report as this particular incident was investigated by the AMA and FAA.

Here is the full FAA report: http://www.modelaircraft.org/files/Bipe_RC-Summary.pdf

Here's is the video of the incident:
Biplane and RC Airplane Midair Collision (0 min 58 sec)

The FAA does not issue accident reports. They come from the NTSB. The one for this event is here, and it is still preliminary.

Haha, ok calm down everyone. You get the point. It's a report from the FAA liaison Rich Hanson.

...So many people eagerly ready to dispute the semantics on here.

Some folks like to get things right and use correct terminology...doing so reduces the amount of bovine by-product on the internet.

That report is simply a report on the incident by Rich Hanson, a well respected AMA rep that helps on Legal and Regulatory Affairs. It is an AMA report, not an FAA or NTSB report. Adds a few new facts and some new information from the guy that went there and investigated the incident for the AMA.

I don't know what you're laughing about Kellen but getting the facts right in cases like this is very important.

First time I have seen this, looks like a purposeful setup gone wrong as my take before reading report.

2. Things a pilot worth their salt should never low and over an airport with people on the runway without prior arrangements being made and cleared by the FAA (in Canada you can't
do airshow style low passes)

Also I heard a guy call clear to the pilot (or so I thought)

Anyhow I am sure this has been debated very much, this is just my 2'cents

Yes, you are correct. I was laughing at you . Just another case of semantics bashing. It's besides the point. I think everyone understands the purpose of the post after they read it, ...its the article.

Well I didn't get it quite right, but they where invited into the same airspace none the less.

Should be interesting to see the final report.
