Marvin Martian's Flying Saucer

Ok.
I've lost my mind. If you see it send it back, please.
In the meantime here is a little project I've been mulling over and wasting perfectly good foam scraps on.
What got me thinking about this was watching the videos of my 5EZP Boeing FX2 flying.
It occurred to me (why is a mystery) that I might be able to stabilize a disk the way I did the FX2.
I kinda styled it after Warner Brother's Marvin Martian Spaceship.

That looks interesting. Have you done glide tests on it yet?

I have done glide tests of a rough mock-up and this config too.
Glides as well as the FX2.
I will post the first test soon.

I'm gonna start a hopefully flying version today amidst the other running about.
It will be a 44" diameter disk with a KFm4 scimitar shaped airfoil and have a SMJv2 2550 motor, 50A ESC and a 7x4 or 6x5 prop with a three channel two servo set-up.
probably take three sheets of FFF.

Such are the best laid plans. I forgot that my foam core board that I use to make my pattern templates is but 40" x 32".
So Marvin will have to be satisfied with a 40" diameter saucer ship which is still a beast.
If he doesn't like it he can just vaporize me with his little cartoon ray-gun.

Here's a pic of the pattern progress.

Look what I found...

Bob...

Here is a German Flying Saucer from the early forties and it appears to have steps in a circular pattern. Thought you might find this interesting.

Thank you I do.
My Saucer is essentially a 40" diameter Kline-Fogleman wing-disk.
The KFm4 airfoils are on either side of the upper nacelles.
It will be a park-jet with a Super Mega-jet motor mounted like any other park-jet I've made.
It glides well. SO, I'm anxious to see how it will do in powered flight.
