Dumas 30" Star sail control

I'm resurrecting a Dumas 30" Star I built about 40 years ago, with a Heathkit R/C system also built back then. Originally I had made a winch for the sails from a electric car wheel. I would prefer to do it right this time. I'm not sure what I should use. I see the Dumas 3702 sail control, any thoughts on that?

In general what are the pros & cons on arm or winch control?

Thanks

Arm types are easy to set up for different length jib and main booms. Also, they don't require a tension device. Drums are fast, but require tension from either elastic or continuous loop. Drums can be very small, though.
My thought would be that for a 30" Star a sail servo (either type) would be much better than the Dumas unit. The Dumas unit is not proportional and requires a servo to operate a switch.
