AUW on the Seagull Ka8 is 5 lbs. 14oz .......weighed with a digital hanging scale.
That is the ready to fly weight with 7 servos, A123 battery and all the guts and feathers. I am very pleased/surprised that it came in under the specified weight of 6 lbs 3.2 oz.
Should be a real floater with that near 10 ft wingspan.
It probably won't fly till next spring now that lousy winter weather has arrived in the inland Northwest but, it's ready to go.

I'd like to hear from others who have this bird on how they came out on weight and what their flight experiences were?

Hi guys I would like to share how I mounted my a123 2300.

I couldn't get my NOBS A123 to fit in the nose.........never thought about cutting out the brace in the canopy hatch. That was a good idea.........

Your battery is a couple inches further forward than mine. I guess I saved the weight with smaller servos........Hitec 225's for the rudder and elevator, Hitec 81 and 82's for the airlerons and spoilers and a HD 1501 for the tow release. The HD is a pretty heavy metal gear servo......and it's the furthest forward so that should have helped.
Regardless, these planes build light and have a very light wing loading.....they should be impressive glideing machines.

Hi Guys,
I flew my KA8 this afternoon and what a sweet flying glider. it didnt really want to come down at all. I found that a 35% mix of ruudder and ailerons worked great for turns. next weekend I will try to get some pictures. weather permitting.

I flew one of these that was reviewed for the December issue of Quiet & Electric Flight International, very nice flier no vices what so ever, spoilers are not overly effective but I used them to help on low passes for the photographer.

The stock spoilers suck I am useing MPI electric spoilers and they work awsome. The glider will almost come to a stop in flight when they are deployed.
