I have a 4 cell A123 pack that I use in my Radian. Let me know if you would like to borrow it some time. Much safer then lipo's. It is what I used when I flew mine on the hill.

Power lines is the site he was talking about near the NREL wind farm. Actually, just the turn off from 93 is near the wind farm. The intersection is Hwy 93 and Hwy 128 south of Boulder. Hwy 128 is the same as W 120th Ave.

There's a trailhead right at the intersection, then as you're heading east on Hwy 128 you'll pass another trailhead on your left at the top of a hill. This is not the site. Continue downhill than back up the second hill. You'll see the bluff on the left. 100 yards later (past the bluff) there will be a turnoff on the left.

NW is the ideal for this site. Anything south of due west doesn't really work.

I don't believe 66th street intersects with Hwy 128 at all. If you turn east on 128 from Hwy 93 (the road between Boulder and Golden), then you won't hit any other intersections before you reach the turn off on the left for power lines. If you get to McCaslin, you've gone to far.

Ok. I will also check out the slope site just off 93 when your climbin up the hill out of boulder. If you are heading south there is a turnoff near the top of the hill; i will go check it out this winter and let you guys know if it works.

That site off 93 works, but generally not as well as Powerlines. They both need NW to be at their best. The 93 hill is little dicey if you get blown back as well. The last thing anyone needs is a plane blowing back into passing traffic.

Powerlines https://maps.google.com/maps?q=39.91...num=1&t=h&z=17

The reason the other site just off the side of 93 on the hill out of Boulder doesn't work
as well, is that it's too close to the mountains and often catches a fair bit of
mountain rotor in a W/NW wind. Powerlines is *just* far enough away that
usually things have smoothed out a bit before it gets there, but it does still get
the occasional swat down. For whatever it's worth, the Open Space rules at Powerlines are,
you can stand in and fly from the parking lot only. The plane can fly over the bowl
north of the fence, and you can land over there and fetch your plane. We're just not
allowed to stand north of the fence to fly. Boulder is weird.

There's a few other slopes I used to fly up 128 that now require some sort of off trail permit! Boulder is annoying! Enjoy your open space but please enjoy it from the other side of the fence!

I had no idea!

Rob...

Edit; By the way my comment was aimed at Boulder and not the posters. Worked up there for 6 years. I do not miss it at all.
