Hi,

Made an elevator joiner and utilized just one control rod & servo.
Works superb and saves weight and a lot less hassle. Swapped the wheels for 4" black ones. looks a lot nicer.

My only gripe are the spats are a crud/dirt magnet. Any flying off a wet/damp/muddy grass strip results in virtual complete u/c stripdown and clean.

I think this is more of a summer/dry flyer not a winter hack.

Got a nice 16x8 laminate xoar prop to try yet. Powers impressive on 6s with low amps(under 40) and it sounds lovely.
Fettled the dash a little and made a little more period style.

Specs are
pulso 4120-20 470 kv motor
60amp enrgpro sbec +10amp seperate cc bec
6s flightmax zippy 20c lipos
16x8 prop

auw 8lb 9z
wot 1098w @41amps

Standard digital servos.

cofg as per manual , no additional weight needed

I am planning to put a Power 60 from leadershobby in mine. Should produce about 1900 watts with 6S power on about a 16 x 10" prop. There's a ton of wing area, so should be a nice flier.

Peter M:

I could not resist your call for a 62CC version conversion build. You know how I like the scale 30's racers!

I started mine this week. Pictured below is what I am going to call a 'teaser' photo of the hatch I cut out. Please excuse the photo quality as I took it with my smart phone.

Power plant will consist of a RimFire 50CC, 12S 5800 MAh Lipos, Castle 160 HV ESC with a 22 inch propeller. Pitch will be between 10 to 12.

Because it is of the larger version I am going to start my own build thread so I do not take over yours so watch for it in the next week or so. I will be going into detail of every aspect of the build with much better quality photos.

Till the next time.
Ta Ta for now.

Great stuff Paul!

I'm only an occasional visitor to this forum nowadays so I was delighted to stumble on your giant sized conversion thread. Good to see there are still interest in the Sparrowhawk.

Good luck with it!

Regards
Peter

Peter, I have yet another kind of landing gear on order from HK and plan to do major surgery on the wing innards, if necessary, to get some decent, reliable undercarriage on this model. I love the way it flies but dread every landing due to the flimsiness of the stock arrangement. The model has never seen anything remotely resembling a hard landing and yet there are constant problems with bending/twisting/scraping/collapsing. I will post details and photos when I finally get around to it, likely this autumn. For now, it is Pattern competition season.

Bob,
I look forward to your photos. I've become used to straightening legs and repairing and repainting the trousers but am open to using a better setup.

Good luck with your competition.

Regards
Peter

You said that you were going to use a 4,000 mAh battery pack? I would try to pack twice that volume into the plane.
