Brushless Motor/ESC Cutting Out

I recently finished my first quadcopter build, but i have yet to fly higher than six feet. The front right motor "flames out" shortly after passing half throttle. On the maiden flight, I was hearing a quick Phzzzt, and i foolishly dismissed it as normal motor behavior. On the second flight, I heard the noise and the quad dipped and crashed, and has done the same thing since on any attempt at controlled flight. I have tested it without props and had no problems, but when i go to fly, the motor will cut out once i leave the ground. I have also noticed that with a full battery it takes longer before it cuts out.
My specs are:
FRAME Hobbyking 580mm glass fiber frame
ESC turnigy plush 18 Amp ESC
FC BOARD multiwii pro with 2.2 firmware
MOTORS NTM propdrive 28-26s 1000kv (outrunner)
PROPS 9x4.7 carbon fiber props
BATT turnigy 2200mAh 25-35C 3S batt

It could be because of a wrong ESC setting.
What's the weight of your quad?

ESC settings:
Brake = Off
Battery type = Nimh
Cut off type = Soft cutoff
Cut off voltage = Low
Startup = Normal
Timing = Medium

The quad is about 2.5 pounds. the esc's are programmed to those settings.
However, i recently looked at the motor specs, and it turns out that they are rated 20-30 amp. Ive already ordered new (30A) ones from the HK US warehouse.

Odd I've got the HK SK450 using NTM 2822's and slinging 10x4.5 props and I don't get the same behavior. I've also got the Plush 18's. I did get sputtering using 8045 props trying to run 3S 4000 mAh but with the larger props it's not a problem, after 10 - 15 minutes motors and escs come down barely warm.

Installed the 30amp esc's and no dice

I put on the new speed controllers, and went out for a test flight that once again, ended in failure. I went inside and installed new firmware on the board, and still got the same results. This thing is going to give me gray hairs

I think I found the problem!

Upon closer inspection the motor (and prop) appeared to be flexing the mount, sending the thrust direction out of whack, and in turn the mount would attempt to return to its original shape, thus perpetuating the motion. I'm going to go to Home Depot later to get some dowels and see what I can do.

I to had the same problem come to find out the set screw in the motor bell that holds the shaft was never locked tight causing the prop to slip in the motor bell.
Tighting the set screw corrected all the problems and now it fly's just fine.
