Untill about six days ago I hadn't given proper thought to my upper cabin parts. Staining the mahogany parts and urethane(several coats) takes more time than I would like. Because I had tucked those parts safely away, they got neglected. If you notice on #995, part of the cabin sides that are the guides for building the roof, are rather fragile.
While waiting for the urethane dry, I decided to fabricate new bulkheads for the roof. It will be difficult to see in the picture, but the balsa bulkheads from the kit were not satisfactory. Using scrap mahogany plywood and mahogany veneer, I ended up with a five ply bulkhead. This gave me the same thickness as the balsa from the kit. You may notice in the picture the ends of my mahogany pieces have yet to be cut and notched. When I dry fit the balsa bulkheads the lengths were not as precise as I wanted. Once I establish the correct length for the new bulkheads, then I can mark the centerline and notch for the stringers.
