Question
1000mAh?

hi all
i have orderd a new plane
it says it needs a 1000mAh 11.1v lipo battery and charger

these are the specs
Motor: 2410 brushless outrunner
ESC: 20A
Servos: 2x9g
Battery compartment size: 50x50x41mm

i was wondering what would be the best resonably priced battery and charger from hobbyking?i dont need an expensive make, turnigy battery and hobbyking charger i was thinking of these 2 will they work together?

Off hand I would say those will work.
I like chargers with a fan in them. Had a cheaper one burn out on me.

Make sure the JST connectors will work for you. They are rated at 10 amp max and you have a 20 amp ESC. That could be pushing the limit. What kind of battery connector does your ESC have? I only use JST with light weight 2S systems. Use EC3 connectors on 3S (11.1v) batteries.

Good luck with your new plane!

That battery is fine, I've got a few just like it. The charger you have linked to is simple and generic and should work -- but (as is common) you will need a 12 volt power supply for it. You can get that from HK, or your local Radio Shack, or possibly use an old wall wart from some discarded electronic appliance. This one from HK will be fine:

The 30c will probably last longer (as in more charge cycles),
but with your setup a 20c would be sufficient.

Comments suggest that the dimensions are wrong. I'd just get the battery you linked to originally and not worry about it. If it's too big just dig a little foam out.

Backorder means DON'T ORDER unless you don't mind waiting an indefinite amount of time. I suggest that you stick with items that are in stock.

It's not terribly uncommon to have to do some carving. But that's an odd size for a battery compartment, any way you cut it.

As to the C rating. Higher numbers are almost always better but usually cost more and are heavier for the same mAh rating. Most of my batteries are 20/25/30C.

The 'C' rating times the capacity (in amp-hours) gives the maximum safe/recommended discharge rate for the battery. Eg. 1000 mAh at 20C means 20 amps max.
