Oddly enough, I have enabled full expo on my rudder control when SWA is down on my Flysky FS-T6. While I was tinkering with it, I noticed the sail winch sheet moved about 10mm when I flicked the switch. I thought I had programmed the switch for expo only on channel 1, yet somehow it is affecting channel 2 as well. Looks like it's time to haul out the programming manual.

That's a radical move. I think it was an American company, Cabots, who coined the phrase "When all else fails, read the instructions." This appeared on the lid of all their paints.

I just checked the programming and it turns out I had 50% expo programmed on channel 2 as well as -100 on channel 1. I just cleaned it up to apply only to channel 1.
I also see how you could use the throttle curve to control the sail winch and by flipping SWB you should be able to ease the sheets a fixed amount.

I use expo on my planes, heli's and cars but the DF65. Why would you? Learn something everyday.

Hey Scratchy, that's brilliant! I tried that and it works....just what I wanted!! Buy you a beer

I just programmed Throttle Curve : L-5, 1-25, 2-50, 3-75, H-100 (ie. only moved L from 0 to 5)

Hey Scratchy, Do you fit skis to you DF65 during winter to "sail" on the ice.

Ahhh - speaking of ice, here's a video of DN Class ice boats having fun on the hard water. Like the mast bends on these?

The last time I saw a mast bend like that was just before it disintegrated into a 100 bits.

I use expo for fine tuning the helm when sailing to windward.
Sometimes you need just a little bit of rudder to correct the weather helm, and this makes it much easier to finesse the steering.

Sorry mate, no snow or ice here! They don't call it the "wet" coast for nothing.
But certainly Dick knows all about ice and snow, living where he does .

How much expo are you using Scratchy and do you use it on the mainsheet? I can use up to 70% on my 3D planes. I do not use Tx expo on helis as this is part of the programming of the FBL controller and is dealt with slightly differently.

throttle curve is what you would use on the winch. My preference is no expo on the rudder, maybe you could in very lite winds.

What Tug said.
Expo on the rudder & throttle curve on the winch.
I use expo primarily when racing in "clear" conditions when you only need to make very slight inputs such as correcting weatherhelm or running wing-on-wing.
For manuevering pre-start or crowded conditions I will disable the expo.
I use -100 expo (max) and adjust the rate to 75-80% which limits full travel of the rudder.
This gives even finer adjustment of the expo at low rudder angles.
You would be surprised at how little rudder angle is actually required to turn the boat.

So my new DF65 has been great, but the sail drum just stopped working. Guess it got moisture inside. Going to pull it out and open it up and see what's going on. Anyone else see this after a month or two of sailing? My boat seems to get alittle water inside when I sail. Not sure where it's coming from...

HI Scott there are a couple things you can do, first and foremost, make sure the hatches are sealed well. On a Df65 there isnt many places for water to get in! If the hatches are sealed good make sure the eyelet holes have a drop of epoxy , ( check out this article:

and finally if your arent treating your recievers, servos , and leads with Corrosion X, make sure you check out this video
