Firmware update failed on my boscam hd19

I tried to update my boscam hd19 but the result has been unexpected.
I put the update file hd09hpupd_v1.00.bin onto the root of the memory card.
restarted the camera and it informed me that an update was taking place.
When finished I tried to restart the camera but all that happens is the light stays on for about 2/3 secs then goes off.
I checked the contents of the mem card and it had, as expected, deleted the file and the card was empty.
I have tried many things as well as copying some other update files onto the mem card to see it it will reboot and upload but nothing appears to work.

Anybody got any ideas ?

I had the same problem as you! I tried several solutions, but nothing worked. I email the Boscam website but no answer for the moment, I would tell you if I find a solution ... I think I'll return the camera, I'm disappointed.

Friends of misfortune ...
  I suspect that our camera has lost the ability to upgrade to deleted or erased the previous firmware.
If so, would have to see how we can re-record the original firmware in the internal memory with an instrument (FTDI, etc).
This would have to know where to connect the wires in the circuit for programming ....
This is very technical.
Anyone have a better idea?
regards

I had the same problem some months ago. No BOSCAM anymore.
This is a product I would not reccommend to anybody. Low quality product not only because this problem but also other issues reported in Explorer HD19 thead.
Finally got a Keychain.

We would like to help BOSCAM ExplorerHD owners to upgrade their gear by offering new firmware.

And till now, we have offered hd09hpupd_v5.00 as default firmware for HD19 (From July 2013).

Why DEAD CAMERA?
1. The firmware you use is not a full right file for HD19;
2. File maybe broken during Hobbyists' share;
3. Our new HD19 after July 2013 use a new Hardware/Firmware matching, wrong matching also turn out to be bad result;

I am sharing the V5.00 here.

And beside automatic update by restart, here are another better way to do update manually:

1. Download hd09hpupd_v5.00 ZIP.zip, and get the file hd09hpupd_v5.00.bin from it;
2. Put hd09hpupd_v5.00.bin in root of TF card and put the TF card in the HD19;
3. Power on HD19, and go to MENU, find the firmware update, press play button, and you will get a Yes/No option;
4. Choose Yes by Up/Rec Down/Photo buttons;
5. Update start and please keep powering HD19 till success notice.
6. When update done, press power button to start HD19 and CHECK all the functions.

does that mean that older cameras (bought before July 2013) should not use this firmware?

I'm sticking with 1.13 (third or fourth 1.13 )

Hd19 boscam - update after failure

Dear Pierty (BOSCAM Representative)

I appreciate your specifications.
The problem I have (and others in the same situation) is that after upgrading my camera HD19, NO REMAINS ON.
So it is impossible to follow the procedure you indicated in the message number
Lights for 2 or 3 seconds and turns off.
As shown in the video:

BOSCAM H19 - FIRMWARE FAILED (0 min 22 sec)

I suspect that for some reason has deleted the firmware of the camera's internal memory (EPROM). And that was why my camera is not turned on .... no video or OSD ..... and worse, has lost probably, for that reason, their ability to updated through the micro memory ....

That's what I think.

Maybe, if there was any other way to flash the firmware in EPROM memory, the problem is solved ....

We look Manufacturer expectations BOSCAM some solution.
Thank you very much.

petaca, there's a trick used with most Ambarella cameras that may work, if you are willing to try it on your risk...

(no, I didnīt try it but I used many shell commands and they all worked fine, I even managed to save the original firmware from my camera )

1) erase the SD card
2) extract the autoexec.ash from the attached zip file and copy it to the SD card
3) download the firmware file from Piery's post
4) rename the firmware file to hd19.bin and copy it to the SD card
5) insert the card on the camera, turn it on and wait a couple minutes
6) remove the card and check it, all files must be gone except a new one named log.txt, which will contain the result of the update

do not edit the autoexec.ash because Windows editors won't save it correctly!!!

good luck...

rcall estimated

Thank you very much for the suggestions.
I followed the procedure.

These were the results:
1) has deleted the file autoexec.ash.
2) has created a log.txt file (1kb), I've opened with Notepad and contains only this: [4l? [4h
3) hd19.bin file (renamed as well) has not been deleted ...

The camera remains the same (lights a moment and off)
Think you can do something more to try to flash the firmware in EPROM memory?
thank you very much

Rcall and other victims of the crash of BOSCAM HD19 firmware ....

I firmly believe that the solution is to "find" how to flash the firmware in EEPROM empty ....
Can not record or update as indicated Piery .... because there is no previous firmware recognizes a new firmware update procedure allows ....

I suspect the solution is to do something similar to what was suggested by RCALL ....
I've realized, the camera responds in some way but not record the firmware (see previous post).
  I removed the micro sd and tested after doing the procedure also ..... and still the same ... It endiende then off ...

Maybe this has some missing procedure ....
Or maybe, the camera briefly on (off at 3 seconds) was not so quick to copy the firmware file to EEPROM ...

BOSCAM H19 - FIRMWARE FAILED (0 min 22 sec)

I wonder if before RCALL procedure must be installed in the EEPROM any order that serves to keep the camera on (LED on continuously).

And then apply the procedure to copy the firmware RCALL the EEPROM.

Anyone know how to burn a firmware from a micro sd an empty EEPROM?

Any help welcome.
Many colleagues have the same problem with his BOSCAM H19

here is a new autoexec.ash and the firmware file...

copy both to the SD card, make sure they are not marked as read-only, put the card on the camera, turn it on and wait a couple minutes...

remove the card and try to turn on the camera...

I gave up with this camera and sent it back to Hobbyking asking for a replacement.
Their technical people checked it over and agreed that is was faulty. I had an email from them today informing me that a replacement has been sent and I should receive it soon.
In the mean time I purchased a Mobius camera. This works great and has been faultless.
I will try the Boscam again when I receive the replacement.

I must say however the support from Boscam has been non existent. If it had not been for Hobbyking I would have left high and dry! I had spent days trying to find a solution to the problem with no success and as such I would not recommend this camera to anybody. When it worked it seemed ok but zero support is not acceptable in my opinion.
