Have a Calypso and flown it several times. I am concerned about the wing locking screws. How do they lock the wings in place when they do not appear to come down on the wing spar?

There is a plastic insert in the wing that the spar goes through. The screw squeezes the plastic insert together that holds the spar in.

I'm thinking of picking up the ARF Calypso. I was hoping to use some electronics out of a totaled Kunai. Will these parts work?

4x - Hitec HS-5055MG 9g Mico Servos (Alileron/Elevation/Rudder)
2x - TowerPro 9g Mico Servos (Flaps)
ZTW Mantis 25A ESC
30mm spinner (3mm shaft)
8x7 or 8x6 folding prop
GPMA2288 1400 kV outrunner (from Kunai)

The only thing I'm really not sure on is the motor/prop/spinner combo. Thoughts?

Most of that will work. Except the spinner needs to be 50mm from memory. Also you will need to reverse th engine shaft.

Calypso revival

After a couple of bad nose-in crashes couple of years ago, I'm only just now getting to reviving my Calypso. Major gorilla glue-based repairs of the front fuselage were required, and I replaced the motor with a Firepower 450 from HURC along with metal spinner. Pix below .... hopefully the additional gap between spinner and fuselage (due to longer engine) won't cause too much drag!

I'll bet she flies just as good as ever! nice job on the repair!! I do see the new motor is a "prop drive" with a bolted on propeller shaft? if that's the case does the motor shaft come out the back of the motor? if so you could possibly reverse the motor and connect a folding prop hub directly to the motor shaft (not the prop drive adapter shaft). This might get the prop & spinner a little closer to the nose?

I still think she will fly just fine the way it is! let us know!

yes, the motor does have a bolted on propeller shaft, with the shaft reversible so that it can exit either side of the motor. However, I can't reverse the motor as that would have the static side at front, and I'd be unable to mount it in that orientation - is that what you mean?

Assembling the Calypso ARF last night; mounting the engine is a bear!
Everything else seems easy, however. Can't wait to maiden.

I found mounting the motor into plastic casing difficult. Lining up the screws from inside fuselage to motor is difficult. Finally got lined up by using a long screw to hold motor then positioning motor for other screws.
