E-Flite PA-20 Pacer, Big problem ------ SOLVED

Hi all

I am building this fine model right now, and there is a few things that is wrong, but they have been pointed out else where.
I have a much bigger problem. The wingstruts are simply too short! Allmost 2cm, and the treaded ends do not fit the links. The treads are 1,9mm and the hole in the link is 2mm.
I send pictures to my LHS and they send them to E-Flite, but we have not heard anything yet.

Has anyboby seen the same problem?

Her are some pictures

Can you unscrew the plastic links until they reach the holes? You'd have to probably do it on the fuselage attachment point as well to even it out.

No, that is one of the problems, or maybe the hole problem. The links do not fit. They are just pushed on, the hole in them are too big.
I have just tried some metal links I had, they are a little longer, and it seems it could work, if I recut the treads, and modify the links.

I think it is too bad that things don't fit together. I don't see E-Flite models as some cheep Chinese crap, even thou this one is made in Vietnam, but they do have to look at their produkt control.

Looks like there should be some sort of fitting that fastens into the holes in the wing.

I found the manual on line. It looks like you have the fittings screwed on to far Hans. In the manual pictures it appears that there is about a 1/4" of threads showing at all fittings. That 1/2" would make a big difference.

Please read #3 again! They do not fit the treaded ends!

I have ordered some other links and hope they can be screwed on.

The shop where I bought it, can't see it is a problem, but they send pictures to E-Flite a week ago, but there is no contact/answer.

Now I have modified the new metal links, and it seems to work. In fact I think it looks better than the white plast links.
Here you can see it:

I got a call from the shop today, and the answer from E-flite was that they had not heard about that problem before, and because of that, they said it was not a problem. "Thank You very much, E-flite"

No mine was pretty much the same all but two of the links just slid on to the studding, I ended up gluing mine in place with thin CA which seems to have worked but I will keep an eye on them

I must say this is a lovely kit but being a long time Eflite fan I couldnt help but feel some aspects of it had a less than top quality feel. In addition you have to be prepared to substitute hardware which I have never done with Eflite kits before.

To make matters worse almost a year after this issue was raised the kit is still shipping with this defect and others

Mine was the same also... It would seem that EFlite's standard answer with regards to issues with this plane was to claim they'd never heard of the problem before and it was just an anomaly.... In the other thread about this plane, some were even treated to a bit of chastisement by a Horizon staff member for reporting their issues about the plane in an internet thread, rather than to Horizon's customer service, even after they had posted about their frustration with having done so and getting nowhere.
