Build Log
'Drake' Amphibious Full Fuse Depron Parkjet

Hi All,

I fancied having a go at designing my own plane from scratch that you can take off from grass and water, and looks cool in the air and handles well.

I mixed up bits of my favourite airplanes into one and I called it the Drake.

Drake is a name for a duck, and also the name of a British Hero (Sir Francis Drake - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Drake ) who saved England from invasion many years ago....

I'm in the process of building the first one, and I don't know even if it will fly, but I thought I'd post my plans and development on here for fun.

I've got all the bits currently CNC cut out (thanks Daz), and a motor mount 3d printed - instead of building one in 3mm liteply ( Thanks Fernando).

Got to order a few more parts in, but should start building soon!

Cheers

Craig

don't the candles add too much weight or are they ballast? Just trying to figure out the build sequence with the candles. Plane looks cool though

Hi Shane, the candles (canards?) are mainly because it increases pitch manoverability, I also think the look cool!

Not so worried about weight with such a big delta wing...

No problem. Just one question. You're planning on having the motor mount assembly swing left right, correct? That'll be interesting!

Correct! Horizontal thrust vectoring! Gives steering on the water and grass, without having any moving parts touch the ground/water. Might be a bit crazy in the air....lol! Should be fun to do the testing!
