ESM BF 110 Zerstorer!

Well this is odd.. for some reason I thought there was a conversion of this awesome plane on RCG.. but I couldn't find it!

So.. if anyone's interested.. here's my Electrified ESM BF-110. I just love this plane. It's my umpteenth conversion but my second twin.

I'll post details later but i'm about to hit the sack.

Some quick notes.. I'm running the following...

2 x 50-65 Turnigy SK Motors
8s 8000mah 30-40c Batteries (2x 6s 4000mah batts and 2x 2s 4000mah batts)
2 x Common Sense RC HV 80 Amp ESCs
2 x A123 1100mah Rx batts
R921 Receiver.

WOT = about 3600 watts which settles down to about 3000watts WOT.

Thanks guys..

I'm hoping to get maiden pics and video this weekend. After a few successful flights I'll start on a different paint job as well as the detailing. I also have the Ty Brown cockpit kit for it, it's quite detailed. Gear doors will be the last item to do.

Forgot to mention it sits on Sierra retracts.

It's heavy though, around 23-24lbs.. but it should fly well.

Thanks Tom.. I thought I remembered reading a build log for it. I also read that Fly-rc review awhile back, is it still online?

So you have two receiver batteries for cg purposes? Did you have too add any weight? TW

On planes this size, I usually use two receiver batteries (say 2 x 1100mah A123s vs 1 x 2200mah A123) just for redundancy. I've seen too many planes go down because of a bad switch or wire coming loose/solder joints going bad etc. Since the R921 Rx has two power inputs I decided to take advantage of it.

It did help with CG as well... even though I have everything as far forward as possible it was still a bit tail heavy! I couldn't believe it.. I thought the motors, batteries/battery boxes would be more than enough. We ended up having to add weight (with rocks at the field.. lol). I really don't like adding weight like that so I'm going to fly her on 2 x 8s 5000mah setups.

Absolutely awesome plane. Looks great in the air

What do use to fasten the cowling's under the batteries?

I am doing an electric build with an ESM Spitfire and have cut the cowling like you but am using screws to fasten it on which does not seem like the quickest most elegant way for easy battery swaps.

I actually used an allen head screw so I could just use my fingers (with blind nuts glued into the nacelles). But even that has become annoying so I decided to install a twist lock deal I bought from home depot. They type that fits through horizontally then you twist it vertically to lock it down. I'll get pics as soon as the install is done, I like it because it's very small and the exhaust stack pretty much hides the whole thing. After some paint it should be almost invisible.

I'll be postiing video of the maiden today.

Here is the maiden on video.

I really should have waited since it was rather windy (sorry about the audio!), but it was too tempting.

I goof up the landing a bit, it's about 25-26lbs.. but flys light. Plenty of power, it cruised at about 1/4 to a little under 1/2 throttle. The plane was tail heavy on this flight, with full down trim it still flew nose high and the elevator was touchy, but manageable. Hardly any aileron/rudder trim.

I'd say about 1/8th throttle on landing, it may look slow coming in because of the angle but as it flys by during touchdown you get a sense of it's landing speed.
