Feibao L39 EDF conversion of turbine ARF

If a person wanted to convert the turbine version of the FB L39, where would one seek out help or source for new ducting? Looking at the one currently listed on RCU...
I dont see a conversion for it with Tamjets.
Thanks for any help!

Tam has ducting for many planes not listed

He has the ducting for this plane for 100mm fans, here is a video of his conversion a few years back

Fei Bao L-39 Tamjets TJ100HP 11s video (4 min 20 sec)

Here is stock ducting on the Fly Eagle

I'm in the high 20's with this model. With the DS-94 doing the lifting it is not a problem. Hauls this bird around. Not sure of the weight but a 100mm fan isn't going to cut it for performance. Unless your is light, very light. Marvin didn't hang on to his for long, you might want to ask him.

Good luck, I've not flown mine in a while but now maybe it's time to do a flight check and ready for flight again.

Good luck with your conversion.

I agree about a 100mm setup not being enough. I've worked with Tam before-I'll get with him and see about 120mm ducting. I love the way L39s fly and look in the air. I've got the JTM version, heavyish at 11.5 pounds but flies beautifully on Stu/Neu/10s. Salivating over the FB even more now. thanks!

127mm might be the way to go, but I should have watched the video of Marvin's with TJ100. Not to bad really-I'll check with him and see what his weight was.

I thought Marvins looked to fly real well in that video and that's only 11s....

I personally like to put the biggest fan I have the FSA for in a model so I totally understand your thinking.....

but at least talking with Tam gives you a good place to start

I've come to the point of needing a trailer! I'll try to make it this year---correction, I will likely be there, flying the 9th and 10th.

What about mounting a 127mm fan with an inlet ring, well behind the 90mm stock duct, as seen in the Fei Bao F-5 EDF conversion? Seems like a plan to me---

inlet rings work.... I've done it
not a huge fan of it but sometimes you do what works

Fully ducted feels much more efficient to me in the air.... I have a jet legend hawk that I've flown with a DS-94 HST with a ring. Then went to a fully ducted setup with the Dynamax...

I noticed right off the bat that it felt like a brake was on when I let off the power with the ringed setup..... fully ducted glides much better power off IMHO

with that said Daniel Schubeler has done some amazing work with none ducted setups and it seems to be working well for many

maybe I'm old school

Ron I appreciate your experience and insights-makes alot of sense. My Electra is another great example of power-off performance with full efficient ducting.

The electra is a perfect example.... clean airframe with prefect ducting
sure helps those flight times to glide it out a bit coming off loops and verticals

If it were mine I'd order tams 100mm ducting and pick up a 100mm stu max...
if you contact Stu direct he may be able to make you up one. I know he has been a bit limited on what he is making....but I would check for sure

I don't think this plane has that much FSA, the inlets look pretty small so you can only put as big of a fan that will work with the FSA

Tam also make a 100mm dynamax (cut down that might make a nice option) I'm just not sure of the power level on 12s..... Tam knows this plane well he would be my first call
