Tandem MOD

Hi Guys,
I'm new here and just came across this thread.
One thing that could be better on the Blade Tandem is that it can be easy to tip it on landing.
Fortunately there is a super-easy solution that makes all landings rock-solid:

1- Turn the heli over and look at the mounting bracket for the rear landing gear.
2- Notice that there is an identical socket available under the forward blades but its not used for anything
3- Procure an additional rear landing gear
4- Remove the front gear
5- Insert the new rear gear in the front socket
6- Drop the heli from 12" or so and amaze yourself with its new-found ability to stay planted and not tip over
7- if you keep yours in the original box you'll have to hack up the foam to allow the new gear to fit, but that's basically it.

There does not seem to be a lot of traffic on this thread, and I don't have a Tandem handy right now to post pics, but if anybody is interested, let me know and I'll put pics up in 1-2 days.

Cheers
Gabe

Blade Tandem (all other UMs) -- Stealth Box Mode

This is how to turn a nice shiny box that will attract crooks (and your kid brother) into a totally boring-looking package you don't have to worry about.

This works on every Horizon Ultra Micro (except for the HyperTaxi (I think)).

Here is a fix that was posted a long time ago about the right turn issue. It is something you will have to do on occasion as the thinking is that the frame warps a little bit and causes this issue. This is not my video, just one of us that had the right turn problem and he found a quick fix for it.

Ultra-Micro Shipping Method

So you want to ship an Ultra Micro but don't have a huge box to put it in, and don't want to spend a fortune at the post office.

Please note that the additional cardboard is very important for airplanes which have big flat boxes and not top piece of foam, but could be skipped for helis, which are smaller and have separate top / bottom pieces of foam to protect the aircraft.

Hi,

I saw this video and tried it a year ago when I first got my heli and frankly it did not help. All I was doing was putting unnecessary stress and strain on the mainframe as well as crumpling up and putting cracks into my fuselage!

The yaw problem goes away if I fly for a few seconds, land, pull the battery, and then put the battery back into the heli. This fix is completely repeatable and does not involve wringing my poor tandem out like a wet washcloth!

I looked at my mainshafts and they don't line up exactly either but after resetting the battery after literally just a few seconds (not a minute as some other folks have said) then it holds the yaw without needing any trim. No mechanical deformation required!

What mods have people been doing to these?

I had one over a year ago, but stupidly I sold it, now Ive got a sudden urge to buy another one.

Im thinking shorten the shafts, and add scout CX flybars

Not to mention a plethora of smd leds.

One other thing - if you add the second gear as shown in post #892 you will also need to make a minor change to let it fit in the box.

The pictures show you what to do.
