I put this together in 2 hours. No plans, no thought; just cut and try. It glides, but not much more. tried a hubsan prop and my too big 3x2 but I think I need to get a gearbox.

3mm foam board a carbon arrow and a v911 brick.

dews, the f939 gearbox is pretty well priced at banggood & works well.

You might also want to get some f939 prop's to save messing around with adapters etc. A friend ordered a prop to test, he has not flown it yet but at first glance it seems decent enough. Its quite light so should spin well & its large enough to make decent thrust, maybe not the toughest out there though.

Yeah. As I said I just cut and glued. Will redo the wing when I have a gearbox that works.

I scavenged the gearbox from a broken v911. Does not look like it is going to work out. I will put a 5x3 on it and chuck it into the wind as soon as it stops raining and gusting.

The V911 gearing is way too much, I tried using a cut down v911 frame on the nose before & needed a huge prop to make it do anything interesting. It hung on the prop fine, even did a little bit of vertical flight but did not make enough pitch speed for normal level flight.

a 4:1 gear ratio seems to be the right way to go.

After stumbling about on this thread and a lot of read ups, I finally built my favorite - F22 and the Spitfire micro DD models. Both are 8.5mm DD with Hubsan props. F22 is around 28gr AUW and the spitfire is 23.85. Before I post more details - here are the pics:

Continuing from my first post.....

The f22 has already undergone test flights, in which it proved that it can fly and I need to learn how to . The only challenge was to get the COG right and finding the right propeller. I had a few Hubsan props around and found only a couple of them generating enough thrust. All control surfaces work great and it can roll&climb pretty quick. Awesome model, except that I keep crashing it. This build was based on this :
Ultra Micro F22 Raptor Scratch build. (1 min 18 sec)

The spitfire is yet to take its maiden flight. Hoping that the rudder control is easier than the F22's Aileron/Elevator controls to learn on.BTW I have never flown an RC plane before - just the micro quads.

Will post a video, soon...

Monocoupe V911 Peanut Size

Hi,

I was inspired to start micro modelling by a friend of mine who
showed me a lot (thank you Tobi) including his Microinvent Tramp.
I decided to make a build of Gordon Johnson's Monocoupe from 3mm Depron including the printing tissue technique to have a Micro Model.
I used a brushed 7mm Motor and a spare WLToys Heli V911 brick to keep the costs low.
31g weight over all including battery.

The first flight was very exciting and I was so happy that it was a full success.

Thanks a lot to Gordon that he shared 9 years ago his excellent pdf files

Hi,

I have a couple of spare v911s lying around and want to build a very basic plane model from it. Given i am completely new to fixed wing and have never built a plane before i find all the info in this thread a little overwhelming. Can anyone guide me on what equipment i need to buy in addition to the v911 to get started and point me to some plans that would be suitable with the v911 electronics. I already have a devo 7e tx modded to fly v911 and some spare toy qaud props.

Thanks
