I spend a lot of time looking at gear before I decide and have always done that with everything.

I thought DX7 was good and if the change came along may have bought one. One day at a hobby shop a customer was complaining about one and the things he was saying put me off. But that is only one person. I have heard the comments from here recently so for FPV they seem not too good.

I have thought my Futaba 36mhz would have only gone as far as I could see but my Futaba 2.4mhz would have been better. So I do not know as I have not done any long range tests. Since the range thing has been mentioned I have tried to find, probably youtube, where a bloke did actually go along a road and tested various systems. I am sure the 2.4mhz went the furtherest.

has anyone done a real world comparison?

Disappointed in my LHS, great bunch of guys, real pro elect flight, but knowing my ultimate goal is medium range FPV, they recommended and sold me the dx7 very recently, quote "the 2.4ghz spektrum will get you an [I]easy[I] 1.5km range without a problem, clearly this isnt the case...

i dont mind spending the money (do i have your attention Mongrel? lol) but i DOwant to get it right, equipment wise, first time. already i have bought an exy dx7 for no good reason, other than my ignorance. i've been saving up for some time now, purely to enter the flying fpv goal, dont mind how long it takes, so long as i get it right

I'D CHECK OTHER FORUMS AND ASK THE QUESTION ABOUT THE DX7'S. THERE MAY BE SOME TRICKS WITH THEM TO GET IT WORKING GOOD. IS THERE A DX7 FORUM?

i just wasnt sure on distance, if 900mhz or 1.2ghz had any advantage in LRF, one over the other

kEEP HUNTING AROUND FOR THE ANSWER FOR THIS ONE. I BASICALLY WENT 900MHZ FOR VIDEO BECAUSE THE OTHER BLOKE DID. HE MIGHT KNOW SOMETHING I DO NOT BUT HE MAINLY MIGHT HAVE DONE THIS SO AS TO USE 2.4MHZ FOR THE PLANE CONTROLS.

SOME SHOPS ONLY SELL 2.4 AND 900MHZ FOR THE VIDEO SO I THOUGHT WELL 900MHZ MUST BE ALL RIGHT. SO THE OLD HANDS HERE COULD PROBABLY HELP MORE ON THIS ONE.


can anyone tell me if rubber mounting my dle30 2 stroker to the bulkhead will reduce vibes?

NOT SURE THERE ARE EVEN VIBRATION PROBLEMS FROM PETROL MOTORS. SOMEONE ELSE WILL HAVE TO HELP WITH THIS ONE.

BTW - We have a member hear getting 5kms out of a 36mhz Futaba setup!!

The good thing about the 10C is you can just plug whatever module you want in the back!

I can't give too much away, but lets just say that I am working on a module now that will get you 50kms if you want it, and it plugs right into the FUTABA gear.!!

OK - well the product itself is finished, and we are in the process now of getting it C-Ticked for Australia. YES IT WILL BE LEGAL!!

If all goes well, I see no reason why we could not have it available before the end of June. HOWEVER - PLEASE don't take that as gospel. We are trying, and we still need a few ducks to line up yet.

I will not go in to too much detail but is probably going to be the snag that has been holding a lot of Aussie FPVers back.

I promise I will give you all the info once I know we are good.

EDIT - You will still need a video link to fly FPV.

Help me - I can not stop buying stuff.

Just went to the swap meet and bought a EasyGlider for $100 and a HiTec Flash 5 36mhz transmitter.

I got the Flash 5 as I have a Flash 4 and the I like a transmitter model for each plane so there is no set up when going flying. Both have 5 model memory and the Flash 5 has dual rates. I just keep these for the cheaper planes and Corona synthesized receivers you do not have to worry about crystals.

Like Mongrel says the 9 or 10 channel 2.4ghz Futabas are good and you can go 36mhz also, if you want to spend that much money. Basically it is the best.
