Hobby King Cessna 182 balsa kit

First things first. This kit is not really for a first timer or begainner. I bought the kit from HK. It arrived very fast. The laser cut parts are done really well. Usually you have to cut out a lot of the parts yourself. The main problem with this kit is the building plans. You get none. It does come with a photo layout of sorts and a main wing plan that is not to scale. That being said. Very nice kit. I will try to post my progress as I go.

I started by separating all the parts. They are numbered fairly well. F parts are fuselage. X parts are motor mount. The battery tray and servo mount are also F parts. Make sure you and your parts around the windows before you glue the pladtic in. I sand just about everything Prior to glue. I hope this is a help to someone.

Subscribed. Mine should be here next week. Thanks for being the Guinea pig on this kit with no documentation!

I stopped building so I could try to take a few more pictures before they get covered up. I'll also try to number them the best I can.

HK is selling Zeke's "Wisp" series of kits and I thought maybe this 182 was his as well. I went to his site and looked at the C-182 manual. Not even close.....

I put the link back in the first post. This kit is listed in the USA Warehouse only, under Laser cut kits.

The cork is 12"x12" tiles I found at Lowes. Used for bulletin boards.

Mystery pieces. It looks like part F 7.5 comes up through the bottom of F6 so it needs to be glued in before F6. The picture/plans are not real clear. I'm not cutting F6 out so I'll just have to deal with it. It appears to be alignment tabs for the wing. No idea where parts 7, 8, & 9 go but work progresses.

In looking at the poor quality picture from the HK site it looks like those F7-F9 parts go in the center leading edge of the wing. Have you been able to figure out how the wing is attached yet? I don't see any dowel holes for rubber band or anything to suggest it's a bolt on either. Mine will definitely be bolt on. Looking forward to your wing build as it's just begging for flaps and mine will probably get them.

I don't see any windows/windshield in the HK or your pictures. Does it come with anything?

Looks like the wing is screwed down to part F6 and F18. The kit comes with all the window plastic and hardware. Even control rods and tubing. In my opinion this is a very good quality kit. The laser cut out is first rate.

Tom

Update: I'm putting all the build pictures in my blog also.
Started a little of the ribbing.
