Dart DLG from SUSA?

Been curious after seeing it at Soaring USA the other day. Does anyone have a build thread or experience flying it?

Jun flew one for a while until it was destroyed in an accident. He seemed to like it.

Dart

Howdy,

We will be updating the Dart photos soon.
New version is full carbon solid core wing. New wing planform, and new tails.
Maybe one of the best "bang for buck" out there!

Best,
Bob

There is a Dart flying here in Albuquerque, and I got to help the owner put it together.

I felt that quality for the price is quite high. Fit and finish was superb. I don't know how it would perform set up the way I like to set it up, but the owner has had a very good time with it.

Features I liked include the socket in the vertical tail, making mounting a snap.

If you are an intermediate flyer of anything, and know something about soaring already, then I believe the Dart would be an excellent way to try out the F3K game.

Yours, Greg

Thanks for replies
I'm an experienced flyer (mostly sailplanes) and am looking for something easy to build that would be acrobatic in still wind at the field and light lift at the slopes. It should be able to handle the occasional "missed hand catch" into the dirt too. Thus far, my DLG experience is limited to Vladimir's ELF, Peak Hobby Binary 900 and I've got an Apache on the workbench. No plans for competition, but I'd like a solid airframe which can be packed away easily.

I've been looking at the Pacific Glider Works Arrow 5 and Zen as well.

I'd say the Dart should work fine for you.

I've had Seba's products before, but not a Zen. However, his products have always been excellent quality, and business with him has always been enjoyable for me. The wait for an Arrow can be quite long - Shaper Dave does his own building, and will not compromise quality, ever. I simply cannot understand how he turns out his airplanes at the price he charges - unbelievable! Be aware that the Arrow5 does require rather more construction than the Dart. I've built both.

Thanks a heap Greg
My budget is more on the Arrow5 side (can't say there's anything that comes close for that quality) but I could have a Dart in my hands as early as Monday and build it in a couple evenings. Such a dilemma!!!

I'll double check on the wait time for an Arrow and build a few other ships while waiting if I can.

Bob, does that mean SUSA won't be offering the Carbon/Glass version anymore?

I'm a big proponent of Arrow5s, but I think Bob just let you know how the world really is. I'd get the Dart NOW, save up for a Ghost later.

SUSA Bob:
Thanks for the clarification. I regret missing the Labor Day Sale, but I hope you have the new Dart in stock when finances allow. After seeing it in the flesh; the value becomes real apparent.

Greg:
Yup, sound advice from a fellow addict

Happy Soaring,
