what speeds do you guys land ur MX2 at?? I tried a floater no power but no good and harsh landing, 2nd time was under 1/4 throttle and a bit better...but im interested in ur opinions.

Also have any of you guys strengthened the landing gear?? mine was hopeless and broke on a harsh landing...also the tail wheel..im making a new one now with piano wire.

Hi Jaskel

The Mx2 is most definitely not a glider it needs power in horizontal flight when you cut the power it falls like a rock. But when you add the power it definitely likes to fly it’s got a lot of power. I had put a 12X8 prop on the MX2 for more speed. It’s been all most a year since I have flown the MX2 for landings or more power coming in at a foot or two I’d gunned the throttle a little to straighten the horizontal before landing. They need a new design of the landing gear mount, there’s not a lot of foam in that spot to support the landing gear.

There was a kid that did modifications to his landing gear on YouTube but the audio is gone now but you can still see what he did at 4:00 min into the video.

UK versions have a 12 x 6 prop. This is much better for torque rolling as it will turn in both directions. I believe that the servos have also been changed to give better resolution now. The separate sheet in the box giving the sport and 3D setups was really useful. Personally, I like the sport setup as it suits my abilities.

This model is very capable and great fun!

Thinking of getting into one?

Hiya there Jasel,

Thanks for starting this thread and attempting to co-ordinate all the info on this plane in one place. I myself have recently been interested in one, and have been trying to research info on them ....there is not a lot out there.

They are obviously sold as a "Hype" or "Team Hype" in Germany Europe and Bannana Hobby in the US sells them, but there do not seem to be any reviews or similar anywhere...except here!

Overall impressions seem that apart fromt he dodgey ECS that can cause them to powerdown/crash, the basic motor and airframe seems pretty capable, aerobatic and crashworthy. Can you offer me any further info?

such as:
1) the with wings detatchable for transport - one peice or two?
2) Is there any carbon rod or similar reinforcement in the wing or fuselage?
3) what batts are good with them? the batt compartment seems pretty small, but they list 1800 - 2200mah??
4) is the motor ok? seems most are satisfied once the ECS is replaced, or is there a reason for you upgrading to the C3536?
5) Are the stock servos any good - or will they need replacing?
6) Can you change motor and esc without cutting the nose off?

Finally - ANYONE GOT ONE FOR SALE SECONDHAND IN THE PERTH WA AREA?
:-)
PM me if you do, and we can maybe negotiate!

Thanks guys - look forward to sharing my expereinces with you on the same plane soon :-)

Cheers,

Matt

1 yeah thew wing is detachable, 1 peice
2 hmm not sure to be honest...ill check it
3 i use turnigy 2200mah 3S and fit fine.
4 motor is ok...just needs that little more grunt...oh and upgrade ESC to 40a
5 Replace the rars with metal gear, they have big throws so u need strong servos
6 yep sure can!

Thanks for that Jaskel. Just what I wanted to know :-) ...Hopefully useful for others are well.

I also found this HYPE website that you can translate from German using Google-translate or Babel-fish etc. It has lots more info and seems to sell the full range of ST Models in Europe. Prices seem pretty equivalent.

I pump up the gaps in the wheel well and firewall of my MX2 with PU glue, the expanding stuff fills up and strengthen the langing gear area nicely !

Here's my build or rather, repaint thread :http://www.daddyhobby.com/forum/show...&highlight=mx2
