PL8 help

I am charging small lipos on a balanced charge witht the FMA board that allow up to 6 batteries. When I use the small lipo balanced charge preset and put in 1.8 amps ( the batteries are 1800). The charger decreases the amperage value for each lipo input on the board. Shouldn't the PL8 read 1.8 amps no matter how many parrallel units I put on the board? I guess what I am asking is whether or not 1.8 amps is charging each battery or is 1.8 amps being divided amount each battery? How can I maintain 1.8 amps for each battery to reduce time.

Maybe I am not understanding.

The small lipo presets are tuned for 2 amps and below. 6 x 1.8 is just over 10 amps. You will need to use the high power preset for anything above 10 amps. the first two presets are tuned for 2 amps through 10 amps.

Thanks for the response. I'll do that. .....but why is it when I put on two packs the charging amps is 1 amps and with three packs it is 666 mAmps. Seems it is being divided which is still under 10 amps total charging

Did you switch from the small lipo presets to either preset 1 or preset 2?

That is accessed through the computer program, as I don't see a preset menu to change?

If I am charging 3 X 1.8 amp batteries, I should set the PL8 to 3P and 5.4 amps (3 X 1.8), correct?

Or 6 batteries at 6p with 10.4 amps on the high setting? That would be 1.8 amps per battery?

When you start the charger, after selecting the power source, you are in the preset menu. The list of presets is the "main menu" of the Powerlab. Use the INC and DEC buttons to scroll through the available presets. Preset 1 is the Generic Accurate charge, maxes out at 10 amps. Preset 2 is the Generic Fast charge also maxes out at 10 amps. Preset 3 is the High Power charge which maxes out at 40 amps.

If you are a recent firmware version, you set parallel packs to 3 and charge rate to 1.8. Total output current will be 5.4 amps. If you are seeing something different, you may need to update your firmware. Latest is 3.31. There was a parallel packs setting change in behavior. Don't remember the version this was changed, but it was a long time ago.
