30cc Thunderbird..???

Received the 30cc Thunderbird...the kit came well warped..no breakage.
The instruction manual was a general manual covering all of the 30cc models...
this might be a problem for a first time builder...I did not have any problems assembling the model ..went together without any problems.
The model was designed for a 30cc motor..I installed a DLE20 (20cc motor), I was
a bit apprehensive putting a 20cc motor in..Well, let me tell you it flies very well with
a 20cc motor..it loops..cuban eights etc..have not tried 3D yet..but it was flown between i/2 to 3/4 throttle without any problems..quite fast...had no problems landing the model..slows up very well without stalling out...
Note: I am using DS821 servo's without any problems..the balance was right on
as I did not have to add any weight...If you want a good sport flying plane ..then I
can recommend this model...a steal at $180.00

Hi Codimasta
Just wondering how this plane has been holding up for you. Any opinions on the quality of the hardware provided. Looking for a replacement for my demolished HK Sbach 30cc.
Thanks, Sandy

Still flying it..as I said it was a steal for $180.00...no problems..hardware is pretty good..
They do not say this but you can run dual elevators..the cut outs are there...I think you will like it...should be a bomb with a 30 cc...mine flies great with a DLE 20...

Codimasta,
You say yours was well warped, how bad?
I was going to order one today, but may not if they come warped.

Still using the same servos?
Did you put two on the elevator?

I am still using single servo (821) on the elevator...It might be a good idea if you are doing a lot of 3D...

My Thunderbird arrived today!
Double boxed. The exterior had some damage so I was hoping there wasn't any inside. Open up the box and no damage at all!
Everything was wrapped and taped in place. Inspected each part and the only
Discrepencie I could find ( and a small one at that) was the canopy had some discoloration from the c/a glue used in the fuselage, but not much.
I dry fit everything, and this thing is big, but light. Overall pretty solid and the covering is better than the e-***** and h*****9 kits I have purchased. The tail feathers are sheeted with balsa and covered in monokote. I received the aluminum spar tube which is very strong, not a carbon fiber one.
$237.00 with shipping and received it from CA in 7 days. Looks like an easy build. Can't wait to get it started. Have to finish my kitchen remodel first.
