ar500 OR AR6100 for the E-Flight Alpha 450

Which receiver would you guys go with for this model? Would I relistically use the range of the ar500?

Also what Lipo's other then Horizon are compatible with the EC3 connector that I assume comes along with the Alpha plug and play?

If you are looking to buy lipo that already come with the EC3 connector you are seriously limiting yourself with battery.

If these EC3 connectors is what you have then simply buy a bag of ec3 connectors and when you buy new battery do not bother with the connector and simply replace them with yours.

Most hobbiest with replace the stock connectors with their fav. brand.

For the receiver it depends on what you want the plane to do. The Alpha has 2 servos for the ailerons. The AR500, while being full range, does not have true 6 channels. The two aileron connections are really just like a Y-harness. However, the AR6100 has 6 full channels so you can program in flapperons or spoilerons if you wanted. On a high wing tricycle like the Alpha I like to use flapperons and put both ailerons down on landings.

The Alpha is not so large that you will be going out of the range of the AR6100. If it were my plane I would go with the AR6100 so that I would have the option of flapperons. If I just had to have full range I would go with the AR6200.

As for LiPo's the answers you have already received are correct. All of my planes are set up to use Dean's connectors. When I buy LiPo's I just remove whatever connector is on the LiPo (one lead at a time so as not to short out the LiPo accidently) and solder on a Dean's connector.
