It just means if we have a ROAR event we are covered in case someone gets hurt in surance wise, and also rules governing motors/ESC/Batteries approved things.
I will have to talk with ROAR direct soon to let them know about our bikes and the abilities.....its a long drawn out process it seems, but at least we are accepted. The certificate looks spiffey. Kev. PS>.I'm not schooled 100% on ROAR either, but soon will be learning much more. Website to learn more: http://www.roarracing.com/ |

Hi everyone,
My name is Alireza and I live in SF South Bay. I just joined RCMCC last week and want to say hello to everyone here. I got an encouraging warm welcome from Kevin when I signed up for the club and I am excited to meet you all. Although I have been bashing around RC cars for a few years on and off, I am totally new to RC motorcycle and racing. I am thinking about getting my first RC bike and I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions. I want to get a 1/5 scale and was thinking about a Dean Tech GT913 or ZH Racing Z-330B from 2wheelhobbies.com. Are these good first bikes? I appreciate your suggestions and comments. Cheers, Alireza |

Hello Alireza and welcome to the wonderful world of RC Bikes. Yes Both are great bikes for a first timer trying to get into the hobby. Which ever one you choose your going to have to fit a body and have good tires. The rest is going to be learning how to drive the bike. Pick a big parking lot an go get the feel of making a tight turn big turn and sweeping turn. Then hard acceleration straight line feel and straight line braking. Get that down and then you will be ready to hit the track and then learn how to get around a track.

Open box review. GT913 1/5 scale.
OPEN BOX REVIEW of the Dean Tech GT913
** Most affordable competitive 1/5 bike currently in production. ** always update the TIRES to competitive tires (all stock tires are not the best) ** Not liking the fact there is NOT lexan / polycarbonite clear body/rider ** the Fiberglass fairing will not hold up long. ** Was a nice build (build video soon) I can't wait to race it. *** I'm racing in Stock clas 17.5T approved motor. |

Here is a beginner setup guide for basic on-road R/C motorcycle principles:
http://rcmcc.tripod.com/id58.html Any of the $400+ pricepoint bikes are pretty good. They have different mechanisms for installing steering rods and crash bars but you can adapt to whatever type you want if you are fairly adept at working with a dremel and drill/taps. Modern tires now are premounted on rims so that should be easy peasy. Speaking of crash bar setup: Lito taught me this neat trick on the iphone, under utilities there is a "compass" app so you can lay your iphone on the bike to check your lean angle. |

Hey, guys! How about a race up North at Warm Springs Raceway in February to start our season off?
I've got 2/7 and 2/21 open on my schedule. Kevin will check with the RAMS guys to see what their club schedule is. |
