Servo Speed

I'm posting this in the Sailplane Talk forum because I'm interested in use of servos in Thermal Duration type of gliders. Over 100" span models, such as the Supra, etc...

How much of a difference does servo speed make?
Is there a difference between a digital servo in the ailerons/flaps/elevator or rudder compared to an analog servo? Would I notice a difference in say the elevator an ailerons using a faster servo but not so much in the flaps or rudder?
Would one notice a servo speed difference between .12 sec/60 degrees vs one that is .24 sec/60 degrees?

Thanks
Curtis

For thermal soaring speed is not important. Accuracy and power are #1. For sport flying the supra on a slope, faster servo's can help but were talking about a long skinny wing which in the RC world has limitations in speed of roll. The only need for fast servos would be if you want an Aerobatic Supra which is kind of an oxymoron.

Servo speed

In F3J the time on tow is points not available. Short tows and perfect dip/zoom are deciding factors. Servo speed on elevators is a consideration here. What we take to be average values are good enough, just don't opt for tiny servos with large gear reductions, they could be an issue.

Curtis, accuracy and torque to me are more important than speed, I am adding expo now as it is. But comparing the accuracy of analog vs. digital is dramatic, that to me is where digital servos have come to the fore in soaring.
