potshot the control horns are brilliant to use, they are specifically designed for foamies, they are made by http://www.radioactivemfg.com/ and are part number F-RCA280 (4 in a pack) i get them from my local hobby store in the uk, im sure you can get them in the U.S. just press the 2 pins through the foam and the top cover snaps shut over the barbs on the pins. ![]() i make up my pushrods as below.. ![]() the piano wire is .034" diameter. the "kink" near the z-bend allows the length of the rod to be fine adjusted when its all installed by squeezing it with pliers the carbon rod is .070" diameter and just cyno's into the horn. i attach the wire to the carbon rod at the servo end with heatshrink tubing (yellow in photo) i shrink it then run a bit of cyno down the inside never had one fail even on my insane 3d indoor stuff. the 1800kv motors and the 30a esc's are the cheap items (£6 posted each) from hong kong/china. just do a search on ebay for 1800kv mine are here.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1304928827...84.m1423.l2649 David |

David,
A good aileron trainer is certainly needed as a foamie scratchbuilt. Glad you took it on. Your design has some classic looks. I would like to some landing gear if possible. Its one thing that makes you feel like a real plane is to be able to take off and land and takeoff again without assistance from your arm. I like your plans presentation also. Keep up the good work, Ken

glad you like it, anyone looking for an "extreme" or 3D model need not bother, this model is a pussy cat to fly, the rolls i did on the video were "stick rammed in the corner" and are its max. it just has that "feels right" sort of performance, it doesnt need dual rates or expo or anything else to make it fly. the design wasn't based on anything in particular but a mish mash of elements of some classic models. i have just tonight fitted a set of wheels to the second prototype i built for the blog, and have almost finished the covering and trim... undercart is a simple bent piece of wire and the wheels are really lightweight that i made out of depron. cant wait to show you number 2 now she is nearly finished ![]() watch this thread! "Wot-a Fokker"
Dark forces have been at work!
no sooner had i posted the plans safetly on the internet than i find out that the free plans have been stolen by that evil genious "Baron Von Wingover" Von Wingover the renowned world war 1 fighter ace (now over 120 years old ) has taken the plans for the Wot-Next and produced this... this..."THING" yes he has well and truely "Fokker'd" it ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() look at that tail logo..... ![]() ![]() its amazing what a bit of self adhesive trim and a fertive imagination can do... it really is how i intended the ""wot next" to look seen here with the prototype ![]() David |
