1/2 scale micro Butterfly

I liked the way my Plantraco Butterfly flies so much I built these 1/2 scale 3.5 inch span models. The red white and blue one weighs 2 grams and uses Nick Leichty's new 100 mg receiver. I built the other one with the new 2ch Plantraco Butterfly receiver and lt weighs 2.2 grams. I am using the Didel MK04S-10 4MM motor geared 4.4/1 and the 30 Li-poly cell for up to 8 minutes flying time. See them fly at the NEAT Fair. Joe

Joe,

great work, love your micro Tensor as well. its good to see that with "off the shelf" products, we can now achieve almost the same weights as with the ultra lightweight stuff from Nick L. now that the electronics side of things are getting so small, we're going to need a new lighter power source to keep up and to get the weight even lower. i'm starting to really wish i could go to the NEAT fair. again, great work.

Great Job, Joe! What kind actuator do you have. I am currently building a similar small plane using the Butterfly stuff with the motor DD. But the parts alone add up to 2.4 grams. Trying to wind a smaller (lighter) actuator failed, since it needs to have 150 Ohms and that means quite a lot of copper. Even with 0.05mm wire my coils weigh 0.3 grams. Any hints?

thats an awsome pair of planes Joe. one question, did you get the conversion module to let you use that standard size 3ch Tx?

Derrik

EDIT: nevermind, i just noticed you used Nicks newest Rx i seemed to think it was plantraco gear because of the butterfly. still a very nice plane indeed.

Try moving the CG back, or increasing the down thrust, or both.
If you move the CG back you might need to re trim the incidence.

The model uses Nick Leichy's 25 mg acuator. His is the smallest and lightest currently available. Joe.
