SU-27 XXL custom build and prop help

Hey guys this is my custom SU-27. XXL
I really need some prop help.
I am will be running onea these ebay motors
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=260295786048
yes i like speed lol this plane is renforced. but what would be a good prop to use?
on my old SU-27 it had a 4.75x4.5 and that was a stock motor it was slow and hard to keep afloat, so i swaped out to a brushless motor and was running a CLIPPED prop a 8x6 and it gave it OK speed but i wanna try and max her out

i am running a 3s 1800 cell lipo
and for backup a 3s 2525 hehehe

but what prop should i use that would give me the most power?

And any ideas on some micro retracts??
and YES she has rudders lol

My initial thoughts are you may need a small prop for this, as the KV is very high. Maybe a 4-5 incher. (I've no actual experience with it.)

Hi moonpie33

It is very clever of you to ask about the prop for this motor, because
chances that this motor is a heli motor is very much, and that means
that you have got to go way down in prop size or use gear.
I am very ankshes to see what the more experience guys will tell you
about it.

Good Luck........

If you haven't burned the motor or the esc. until now so you really are lucky. becarefull with that. Ask or read about high kv motors, and what you have to do so you just dont burn everything.
I am just writing this because i have been there, done that....

Good Luck with it, and please let us know how it goes .........

where exactly is the CG or balance point on your plane?
If you measured from the very tip of the nose, how far back does it come out to be?
How much throw do you have on your control surfaces?
Thanks Ray

Yup, ya got to watch them high KV motors, and the props you put on them. High KV motors benifit from small props (cut down or not). "Over-prop" and the ESC/motor system may burn out.

as for CG and throw
well i like to max the throw out and it is maxed out lol
im a 3D pilot at heart and cant resist
the CG is 13 inches from nose to back
but i might go 12ish
it has a nice glide slope!!!!!
and what speed to you think this plane can fly before ripping apart
and i have been reading that whole su-27 guide like crazy trying to determine which is the best motor and prop

I have the original by Icarus, I fly it with the Grayson 2200 KV motor, and a 6x4 prop,
performance is A W E S O M E. Unlimited vertical and insane high alpha slowflight cap!

I modded the moving rudders as well, had to reinforce the vertical tails (put a carbon X in between both tails, and put a carbon spar spanning the horizontal tails and the fuselage. And put another spar running lengthwise in the fuse from nose to engine.

It is an awesome flyer!!!

Best regards,
Martin
