desperately seeking flying wx

Cold and windy is the pattern here in PA.. forecast is for it to stay that way too.... The only opportunity I got to fly this week was tonight, just before sunset when the wind died to an incredibly calm 10mph.. It was still bitter cold... The last two winters here have been mild and there was plenty of opportunity to fly This winter is a more typical one.. It's killing me to have this new F5F plane and not have good flying weather. I spent my ski vacation money on this thing!..... Oh well, just needed to complain about something besides zagis.. thanks for reading...

I fully understand your problem, Tic! Why, just this weekend we had to wear sweatshirts! Can you imagine! Then, I had gone to the field with the intent of getting some landing digital photos but I gave up on that. Conditions were such that there just was not going to be many landings before we called it quits.

Yeah, it was one of 'those' days... you know... days where a brick would fly if you could equip it with a radio! The field reached 32 overnight but was in the mid 40's when we got there and went up fast. The wind was about 5 or less (even though the weather guessers said 10 to 15 for that zipcode). Lift was essentially everywhere. My gosh, who wants to fly under those conditions? Where's the challenge? Might was well just call it quits and go home!

... and just to rub some salt into the open wounds, here's a shot of one of the guys bringing in his Compulsion...

It aint so much the cold that bothers me. The fact that the road to the field aint been plowed and the field has about 30 inches of snow on it tends to crimp my plans just a bit.

Snow, snow, and more snow

Our field in Sudbury, Massachusetts is all snowed up. It just makes landing more interesting.

This is what we have to look forward to for the last month.

BTW, that's me and my Axi Powered Ellipsoid.

Thanks, the Ellipsoid has treated me well and it beats pullin out the high start. Where I'm standing in the picture is the parking lot. The field is not fun to retrieve a model from. We fly electric and saiplanes at this field. There's a few of us who brave the cold on Sunday mornings to fly in calm winds. It's still pretty cold out here and there is plenty of white stuff around.
