Nose heavy is not that bad, but tail heavy can be an airplane killer. In full size aviation it can cause the tail to stall before the wing and cause an unrecoverable stall. With rc it's not as bad but it makes it really difficult to control. With the plane trimmed for gliding with power off, put it into a 45° dive. It should nicely pull out of the dive. If it pulls up quickly you can move the cg back. If it stays in the dive or dives more, definitely move it forward.

I haven't measured mine but it'son the servo wires on a 2015 1720 and I'm probably going to move it forward a bit when I get my new pack in.

2 months old packs should be fine. Unless they've been seriously abused.

Running the 1250KV with a 9x6 (changed it last night) pulling 30A (over 300W) on WOT and about 100W on half throttle (weird as I do not have a throttle curve/expo)
I am flying about 8 minutes per 3S 2650mAh battery and landing at a voltage of 11.2-11.4V (after resting for a minute after landing).

So, I think I can push to a 10 minute flight to drop down to perhaps 10.8V per cell (rest voltage) which seems reasonable (I assume)
She still behaves quite tail heavy though, (keeps the nose pointing slightly up) at the 125mm CG mark :S

More work to do I pressume ^^

EDIT:
Doing tests on my watt meter, batt falls to 10.5V on a 10-15A pull and down to 9.5V pulling 30A (when the starting voltage was 11.4V)
Resting voltage is probably the worst way to measure a pack's health or capacity. It tells you virtually nothing. It does not take into account a pack's internal resistance or ability to supply current.

You need to recharge it after a flight with a charger that will tell you how many mAh are charged back in, and follow the 80% rule: your 2650s should never be discharged past 80% of mAh capacity or 2120 mAh. If you're still weak on power and you know you're putting back a charge capacity well within 80% spec then I suspect your batteries may be junk.

Haven't got the manual, but most planes fly with the CoG one third from the leading edge. That goes for the SW too, even though most version get better efficiency from CoG between 1/3 and 1/2 from LE.

I'd try just behind 1/3 from LE, and gradually move it back...
