rc timer 80a esc opto

i just recieved my 80a esc (no bec, i think) problem is the esc wires going to the reciever have three wires red, black and white, does this mean the opto does have a bec and do i still need to isolate the red wire if there is no bec, i have a 7amp ubec to go along with it. any help would be apprecieated.

If it is Opto that means no BEC and the ESC needs power from the RX via all 3 wires.

Doesn't matter how it gets the power (RX bat, UBEC), an ESC w/Opto needs the red wire connected.

You can easily find out if this is the case; don't connect the ESC's red wire -- if it works fine; but, most likely it will not.

I find that lots of those so called opto ESC aren't really opto at all. If it works without the red wire, I'd leave it off. You'd end up hurting yourself more if it's a not opto and you leave the red wire on.

well, i did connect the esc to the reciever and no power so either way with the red wire or without . seems either way i have to use the ubec, which i was planning on anyway.
